i see a very huge price diffrence between say an Injen short ram intake and the brandless ones on ebay. Are the ones on ebay any good, or do u get what u pay for.

It all depends on whether it fits correctly and what type of air filter it comes with.

so i should stay with my stock intake?!

You should do your own research and decide for yourself.

Those intakes are just *bling*, if you even consider it that.
I have a K&N drop in filter which I got for 20bucks. :)

at the very least intakes are a convenience for the fact that you no longer have to screw with the changing of filters.
dont forget the neon rings around it.
they "supercharge" the air with electricity thus providing more "power"

I havn't had any problems with mine (got it for Christmas 2003), I don't know if I'd buy one for myself, it's nicer than OE plastic, less restrictive, but it's not like you should expect any power from it, if there is any gains they're probably not that noticeable except for a little better throttle response.
Sum it up: There's better ways to spend the money, it's not half as bad as all above are claiming it to be though.

Well.... Those drop in filters are great with an adapter plate. BUT, I've had both, and when you get the full intake with the piping, it sounds a lot better. Anyway, get the E-bay as long as it has both tubes on it for the valve cover tube and the throttle body tube.

yea they sound better but if you have or plan on getting an exhaust it will mask the sound of the engine/intake.. personally i like the sound of the intake better than any exhaust, its just too overpowering. any intake is pretty much the same.. the only difference is the intake filter.. K&N is much different from those K&N style made in china filters I would stay away from those.

A pipe is just a pipe. You can put any name on it, paint it any color, bend it any shape, they're all the same. $29 or $229. Buy the $29 one and get a real K&N filter for it.

You dont need a whole intake kit at all I agree its just a waste on the BUCKS. What I did is I went to Super Autobacs and got a HKS super mega flow filter (the universal one) cuz HKS doesnt make any for the KA24e. ANd so i also picked up a silicone coupler and the adapter to place over the stock intake pipeing and whhalllaaa. It works great u know I kinda had to modify a couple of things here and there but it was a good install. So for all that I ended up sending about 145.00 with tax allready and it was well worth :D it.

i say they are pretty similar but... the injen and aem are carb legal... which means you don't have to take apart shit and change it when you smogg... less work even thought it's not hard at all to swap the oem intake.
i got my injen for $50 from a friend though...
but if it was not $50 i would rather spend the money on suspension

make ur own fuckin intake - all u need is a decent filter. buy the piping and mod it if u need so.
everything is inexpensive if u are even slightly mechanically inclined and ur hands dont grow from ur ass.

those HKS foam intake filters have been known to fall apart and go inside the engine. As stated earlier get an ebay pipe and K&N filter. With Injen and AEM you are paying for their costs spent for R&D failed attempts, etc. Which is why you now find AEM intakes for hondas so cheap because they have more then made up the difference in profit, along with have the all important CARB-OE sticker on the intake, header, exhaust, etc when you get popped by mister THE MAN. E-bay ones just take a already proven design and do it cheaply.

I had an E-bay one on my coupe and liked it a lot. I found it to personally fix a wierd Idle problem I had (probably vacuum leak) I think they are much less restrictive than stock, but that is just me. I also had exhaust and thought it sounded better, but once again that is just me. I got mine for like $30 so I don't think I wasted money, just get a different filter but that's already been stated.

The only positive thing about the "bling" company's intakes is that, like the guy above me said, they'll have the CARB stickers and everything, so noone can give you shit.

Don't pay more than $50 for one. They're just a waste of money on a stock engine. A boosted engine, now that's another story. Such a large pressure increase just demands for better air flow.
A good design to me is the Apexi Super flow one..the one with the converging cone.

i got 7 more psi by sticking a filter on my stock intake pipe. just replaced the stock air box. wow

Exactly. Buy the cheap ebay one, keep the tubing and throw all the other crap in the trash. Get a good filter and rock on.
I have a ebay/homemade hybrid with a cold air extension (AKA 3" 90 degree elbow). I'm not even sure the extension is such a great thing. I'm sure it draws cooler air and all but I recently took it off and I like the way the car drives better without it. *shrug*

K&N!! well cuz it has a 10 year warrentee.. my car came with one, and no carb decal, so i applied and got the carb decal free from them.. and if any part breaks or my car starts to run rough, just give them a call and speak to a tech. THAT IS WHY YOU GO BRAND NAME!
otherwise, i hear ebay piping is pretty thin... like the whole pipe itself (not the metal) but the diameter.

I got an ebay one. Needed one for my e->DE conversion. Fitment is absolute shit, and there are extra ports i had to plug up. Hits the hood, TB side is too short, mounting brackets line up with nothing.
I had very good luck with the one for my civic, way back when i went DPFI-MPFI. That ebay intake fit perfect. I guess the 240 one is just shitty.

just remove the bottom of your air box and ziptie your filter to your air box, cheap but effective
i got 7 more psi by sticking a filter on my stock intake pipe. just replaced the stock air box. wow
you got 7 more psi by getting an FC..dummy

if you guys want to slap those puny 3' opening ebay special filters which dont flow enough cfm, be my guest.
There is a reason why R&D is put into design of an intake. The size of the K&N filtercharger kit is huge.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v72/streetphase/intake.jpg
Also it has to be huge becuase it mounts to a maf... all those cheapo ebay specials use tiny filters becuase most other applications run the same filter coming off a intake pipe, and since our cars have mafs, the ebay specials include a mounting template to use.. which is a poor idea becuase it ristricts flow into the hot needle on the maf.
Ill cheap out on parts of my car, but I would not cheap out for a piss poor air filter. Go for quality.
