ok.... so i've come to try to decipher WITHOUT asking anyone whats the difference between "kouki" and "zenki" and it is to my understanding that these have related to the s14's, with the zenki being the more oval shaped headlights, and the kouki being the more "aggressive" headlights.
1st picture<---http://mmdrillteam.com/zenki.jpg--zenki
2nd picture<---http://mmdrillteam.com/kouki.jpg--kouki

BUT THEN! some dude throws in a thread http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=59119&page=1&highlight=180sx+gallery
and im like "F*CK!" i thought a kouki was pertaining to the s14 only!?!?!? and now i dont know what a kouki is. and thinking that we all own 240sx's, or "silvias"( :confused: ) i have no fn clue wth a 180sx is.
3rd picture<---http://mmdrillteam.com/s131.jpg----regular US spec. 240(?)(popping headlights)
4th picture<----http://mmdrillteam.com/s132.jpg---japanese(silvia?)(non-pop-up headlights) spec 240?
am i correct?
so..... in japan, our s13's are what they call 180sx's?

oh yeah. and i did search. but it gave me sooooo many fucking threads it was like it was no use to search. if you guys can answer my question, it'd be helpful,seriously. :werd:

Ok, it's tough to decipher exactly what you are asking, so I will just give you this answer.

Zenki S13 = "Pignose" Bumper 1989, 1990 Coupe and Fastback in the U.S.A.
Chuki S13 = Rounded Bumper 1991, 1992, 1993 Coupe and Fastback 1994 Convertible in the U.S.A.
Kouki S13 = Type G, Type S, Type R, Type X 180sx 1996, 1997, 1998(I Believe) Fastback only in Japan

Silvia S13 came in 4 differnet models J's, Q's, K's, and Almighty A's 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 in Japan

Zenki S14 = Rounded Headlights 1995, 1996
Kouki S14 = "Shark Eye" Headlights also known as S14a 1997, 1998

I know if I have made any errors, my fellow Zilvians will correct me. :D

that's how I understand the terminology, the words pertain to a lot of different cars
85 corolla= zenki
86,87= kouki

zenki= early model
kouki= late model
chuki= in the middle?

Zen = First
Kou = Last
Chu = In the Middle

Ki = Model/Version

cars are just one sense in which the words are used.

zen = first/early
kou = last/late
chuu = middle/center
ki = time period

so the words technically refer to the time period the car was made in, not to the car itself

but when it comes down to it, with cars it basically just means newer/middle/older version, within a generation.

note: ou and ō are both acceptable ways of transliterating the characters おう, with ou being accurate, but ō not leading people to pronounce it as kooki
