So I finally began the process of mounting the 180sx bumper. First I removed everything and recycled all of the mounting hardware. If anyone says this a bolt on affair, they are lying. It's really not worth mounting the USDM bumper support because by the time you cut it so the bumper fits, there is almost nothing left. Previously I had cut the back of the bumper to fit my FMIC, so that may contribute to it also. Second I test fitted the side pieces and they kind of float in space with no support. The metal supports that support the pignose bumpercover do not come close the fitting. I'll have a few trips to the hardware store to get bolt because I can't use the support.

I am using the genuine Nissan front bumper for all of you wondering, so even that doesn't fit perfectly. I still have to modify the wiring harnesses for the postion lights and turn signals. I'll post pictures of everything because even though I was able to find out how to do it on the internet, the directions are not clear. I am going to the junkyard tomorrow to get the pigtails for the lights.

any pictures of your problem? it's hard to comprehend for those that don't have a type x bumper. i kinda of understand, but maybe by seeing pictures, it would dissuade people from getting this kinda bumper if it's such a nuissance.

There is your problem.

Did you buy a used bumper? The Kouki brackets makes the bumper fit perfectly. The side peices have tabs that insert into the side of the skin.

It is not a TYPE X bumper. It is a Kouki 180sx bumper. It could be Type G, Type S, Type R, or Type X. Please stop the madness created by the media and stop calling everything Kouki 180sx related, a "TYPE X (insert part name here)".

I have a USDM chuki front and the kouki bumper fits decently. I think you need the kouki bumper brackets that fit along the side to get the side pieces and the bumper to fit correctly. I ended up using some small screws and nuts to attach the side pieces to the bumper. I left out the foam bumper support. It all fits but doesn't quite line up right with the hood and headlights. There's a small gap between the top of the bumper and the hood.

They do sell the JDM kouki bumper support and foam piece but I don't know if its worth the price. I can't locate the kouki side brackets where it attaches to the fender anywhere though.
