Sometimes....all depends if the District Attorney thinks he can prove his case in court. Kinda turns into a "He Said, She Said" kinda thing - kid says one thing & the guy who stole it says another - that doesn't really stand up in court. Now if the kid made a statement to a friend saying, "Yeah...I told them to take my car" and the friend rats him out, then that's another story.
Chances are the DA's not gonna file cuz most of his witnesses to the kid's statement are the criminals....what jury is gonna take the words of a criminal in comparison to that of a "honest" kid??
If the DA files, then the DA's gonna have to work his butt off on this case. The kid's defense attorney isn't gonna exactly roll over & let his client's kid get tossed in jail.
I don't see that happening. DA's usually like their cases nice & neat.

A few years ago I met a guy through the street racing world that had an 01 Cobra and supposedly his brother was in jail so he told some people to steal the car so he could get money from the insurance company. A stupid friend of mine was in on this and took the seats and wheels before other guys got to it and set the car on fire with nothing left. To make a long story short the guy with the Cobra got charged with insurance fraud and my buddy at the time got 2 cops at his job one day saying he better return the wheels to the cops or was "in deep shit." :loco: When you steal some black powerder coated, chrome lip 18 inch cobra wheels it cant be too hard to identify them! HAHA

I remeber a while ago i saw a taiwanese news about a actor lost his AMG mercedes few years ago. IT is very rare that only 30 productions and there is only one in taiwan, which is the one he owned. It got stolen 3 years ago but he never gave up to look for it, although many people had suggested him the car might gone to china. and one day he finally found the car on sale on the yahoo auction in Taiwan and the police arrested the car dealer. He finally got the car back, but it is not in good shape as it used to be.

anyway, it has nothing to do with the topic but i just want to share about nice cars been stolen.

most likely part the car out and collect the insurance money, remember a parted out car is worth 2-3 times its value as a whole car...
