This isn't for Silvia fogs...so relax. :p

I bought a set of fog lights for my hatch and wanted to know whats the easiest way to wire them.

I searched and everyone has wiring diagrams for a relay, to a switch, to the battery, to the....screw that I'm lazy. I just need them to come on when the headlights are on. I don't need a crazy switch or anything.

I was going to splice them into the sidemarkers but someone said it would drain the brightness of both the fogs and turn signals.

Can I just tap them into the headlight wiring, or is that a bad idea?

No one? :sadwavey:

Anyways I went out and bought a relay and switch. I want to know if I can just bypass the switch and go from the sidemarker directly to the relay as illustrated in my lovely pic.

You do know your car is prewired for fogs, right?

Relay plug in the secondary relay box, switch plug under the dash, lamp plug by the battery.

Guess you guys have never opened an FSM.

Guess you guys have never opened an FSM.

I have an FSM right here. I'll have to look at it and see.

OK well unless I found it explained in laymans terms on the web I would NEVER be able to figure these wiring diagrams out (flashes back to Computer Networking class).

I spent hours and hours searching how to wire the fogs up and NO ONE ever mentioned the car is prewired for fogs (only the S14). If it is prewired for fogs why does everyone wiring Silvia lights splice into the headlight motors for the fog lights?

Because they don't have the switch or relay to use and the plug for the headlamp motor is right there.

In other words, laziness.
