I was looking on the net a a set of Race Pistons for my s13.... it says it makes the compression 9-1-1 is that good? i have no idea about that sorta thing... and it says for race use only but im sure theres nothing wrong with running them for street use on my KA... what kinda power increase would a 9-1-1 ratio get me... the pistons are not overly expensive but never the less will run me enough to make it a major purchase not to mention the cost of the install! is it worth it?
and i do understand that this is a waste of money if i want to go turbo because i would need a lower compression than that is offering..... im just trying to see how much power can be squeezed out of a KA n/a..... then before i buy all the parts to go full blown N/A or Turbo im gonna weigh my options...
Any input on this would help!

Since the KA comes with 8.6-1 ratio pistons then a 9.1-1 would net you a litt HP but not much. for what it would cost you, I would get like 10.1 forged custom pistons from one of the many custom shops around. That would net you a good bit more than the other one. To give you an idea from another car as an example..
RSX base 9.8-1 160hp
rsx type-s add 11.1-1 & Variable Exhaust Valve timing nets 200hp

if your car is a 90 it may already have the 9.1:1 pistons. some 89's had the 8.6:1. and 9.1:1 is low enough for turbo. 911 turbos have that ratio, and a guy who got 350 rear wheel horsepower on stock 91-98 pistons has 9.5:1 <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

I was really kinda wanting to argue with chimp, cuz to the best of my knowledge, my '96 has 9.5:1 compression. I might be wrong though.

Go ahead and argue, but make sure you have the facts:
Early '89 SOHC -> 9.1:1
Later '89 + '90 SOHC -> 8.6:1
All DOHC -> 9.5:1
