i am in a bit of a predicament and i was wondering what you guys would do if you were in my shoes. here's the problem: my 240 is out of commission (blown motor), and i really wanna drive it again. but im not sure what to do. i have $2800 and here are my options:

#1) go SR- i could get a front clip and install it with the help of a few of my dad's mechanic friends. but with this i'll have a completely stock car (even the stock steelies) with the SR. it would be one helluva sleeper . then save up for rims/tires suspension later.

#2) get a used KA- this would be considerably cheaper only about $500. i could spend the rest on rims/tires suspension and make the car look real damn good. but there isn't a KA within a hundred miles with less than 100,000 miles on it, so i would eventually be swapping to SR anyway. seems like a waste of cash to buy a motor that im gonna replace.

i am leaning towards getting the SR. Please help me out with opinions/suggestions!!! Thank you all!

Usually the consensous (sp?) is, if you have to replace your engine, then go w/ an SR or a CA.
If you look at it this way, after $500 is gone, you more than likely would not have enough for rimes, tires and suspension.

For $2800 you can find another 240 with suspension and rims already on it.

I'm sure you could find a low milage KA if you looked, seeing that so many people are swapping them out for SR's.

That being said, if you're going to all that trouble anyways, you might as well get the SR.

i would go with the SR, forget what the car looks like, I prefer power before looks. Get the SR then a couple of simple mods, then go for the rims and body kit (if you want one) then do what you want.

my 95 240sx only cost $2700....soo.......
witht hat much i'd just rebuild the ka-t....check ...maybe it's just a blown head gasket.....

I agree with wherezmytofu, rebuild the KA with rods and pistons, metal head gasket, ARP hardware. Then put the rest towards a turbo kit. IMO.

If I recall correctly they don't make metal head gaskets for the Ka.

Unfortionately SRskillaDET, I don't think an sr front clip can be had for only 2800. But I'd definately say go SR since you'd want to swap that in later anyway.

Its funny that you say it'll make your car look good instead of handle better.

thanks for the replies. im pretty sure i am getting the sr, gonna take a road trip to pick it up during spring break. btw i can't rebuild the KA because the block was most likely damaged considering the piston and rod completely detached and i had to drive it home like that (plus it has over 200,000 miles on it). and when i said "i could spend the rest on rims/tires suspension and make the car look real damn good." i meant that i could get rims/tires and suspension for handling and other stuff to make it look good. more replies!
