Anyone have any experience mounting this thing?

I bought the lip off someone and there's like two holes that actually match up to existing screws. After checking the FSM I noticed there's like 3 braces its supposed to install to, which I obviously dont' have.

It would be parts 15, 16 and 17 I think?

Anyways I dont' wanna pay $100 just to mount this thing when it will most likely get beat to hell.

ZIPTIES!!!! lol. best way to do it. and instead of cracking when it hits something, it should flex/ come off, and survive to fight another day.

two zipties on sides, two zipties in middle vent (drill holes in lip + bumper)

the two in the center help the lip not sag.

forget all the metal mounting stuff, you don't need it. all you need is the urethane lip.

Man, zipties sound really Getto. I've got a Zenki lip at home that I just finished painting and I have all the hardware, brackets and nuts. Wouldn't it be better to use the factory mounting hardware? If the zipties break when you hit something, won't you run over the lip and ruin it?

zipties rip and bumper is able to fall off without ripping. most will run bodykits with zipties only, so the bodykit comes off and does not shatter, etc.

it a zenki lip, not a $3000 bodykit. either way, zipties > *

OK after looking at it I think zipties would be a better way to go.

The retainer clip would involve drilling about 8 holes in the bumper. Which would no doubt rip the entire bumper off if I hit anything.

Ok.... I have the hardware... but, in your case... take a drill and drill holes in the bottom of the bumper wheere the screws go. Go to a welder/machine shop and tell them that you want a piece of metal (that matches the middle bracket) and use that. I only have the middle bracket. And screwed the ends of the lip into the fender! The metal should only be $15-$20. I worked at a welding shop for 2 years... so... trust me... this is simple.

OR... just get some of their scraps!!!!!! and drill through that.

It depends on how low your car is, where you drive, and how many zipties you use. In my case, the car was so low that I couldn't get up my driveway with the lip on, at least not going in forward. Add to that all the crappy places I go to and the 2 zipties holding the lip on and it doesn't seem surprising that I broke it off and ran it over quite a few times. One time it broke off in the middle of the street and another car ran it over too! The lip didn't get damaged at all physically after any of the incidents, it definitely fucked up the paint though.

If your car isn't completely dumped or you're not worried about the possibilty of damage (ie you drift into a curb and your lip doesn't break off and tweaks the bumper, which would likely be the last worry you have) then I would just run the stock hardware and be done with it...
