Ok here's a wheel question that I asked the experienced(since alotta people on here have owned or do own multiple sets of wheels). I'm looking at 2 completley different sets of wheels. One set of Advan SA3A's in the obvious 16x7 16x8 +32 offset with crappy tires for $800 and the group buy thats going on on the 5 Zigen FNO1RC's Black with polished lip 17x9 +20 all the way around for about $860 w/o tires.

So here's my question. I've had my mind set on the 5Zigens for awhile now but am getting anxiuos, because they won't be shipped for another month or so. I really like the Advans, but the width and offset is not as aggressive as I'd lie, BUT I can get them NOW and for less and I really LOVE the SA3A's ol school style. So if I settle with the Advans, do you guys think I'll regret not going with a more aggressive width/offset in the long run.

BTW I have a completly STOCK car. Nothing done to it. But am going to finally be doing some stuff shortly, and these wheels are the FIRST major purchace for my car.

Yes, I was quick to buy a set of rims for my car because I liked the style and didn't care to much for the size. But after rocking them for a bit, I sold them just so I can get a pair of rims in a better size. Now I will have to wait for the other pair, but I know it will be worth the money and the wait.

Those are my ABSOLUTE favorite wheel inn the WHOLE WIDE WORLD EVER IN LIFE. If I had $2395 I'd get'em, but I don't wanna spend more then $800 for the wheels themsleves.Thats why the 5Zigens in such great sizes made so much sense to me.

you will be happy with your purchase of the advans for about 2 weeks. then you will begin seeing more and more of that space in your fender than you see wheel and have buyers remorse. Browse around the zilvia classifieds, there are always good deals. Or, since you seem to really like the SA3 style, just buy them and run some spacers to make them sit flush.

No, the more I think about it the 17x9+20's are what I'm gonna be more happy with. Even thought their gonna be in the whored out color black w/polished lip, their still gonna be ot in those sizes. NOONE around here runs wheels in such aggressive sizes. NOONE! People will think I'm nuts. :naughtyd:

go with the advans! in my opinion they are much nicer than the 5 zigens. im not sure what the +32 offset looks like, but i dont think it can be too bad. just run spacers. i have +22 offset

well, the sizes of the advans suck, and fn's are just way way too played out. I say look for something else.

I agree, but the sizes are just soo great. I'm not gonna pass them up. If anything in another year or so I'll get the Ver 2's and then use the FN's for track wheels.

Don't listen to the zilvia losers (beside me of course).

17x9 +15 all around is a good size, and WHO THE FUCK CARES WHAT THE WHEELS LOOK LIKE.
It'll perform great, and thats all that matters. (FN's arn't ugly either, they're just played out.)

BE SURE TO GET GOOD TIRES. Otherwise your wheel purchase is all for not...
235/40/17 all around should be pretty nice unless you're a driftarr or posearrr... =)

Oh, and 860 for FN's is way too much.
I just saw two sets go for 600 each, one with tires and one with a pair.

Thanx for the advice.

The FN's in 4 lug in this size brand new is a pretty good price. Everywere else has'em for about the same in lame ass offsets. So I don't think it's that bad.

Out of your 2 choices, I'd stick with the wider 5 zigens. I have DT05R in 17x8.5, 17x9.5 on S13 and am more than happy w/ the width. I know I'd be looking for something wider if I had 7" and 8".

And as Maeda said, make sure to get some DECENT tires, otherwise your wider wheels are just pointless. Take care.

What do you guys think the best bang for the buck tire is out there. I've had a lot of people suggest Azenis but I know those are a grip, and I am STILL kinda on a budget(I still wanna get the Megan coils too). I know there's been countless discussions on tires on here. But whats the best band for your buck?

IMO Azenis ST115 or Kumho Ecsta...

maybe Yokohama ES100 or even Azenis Ziex 512 if you're budget

ecsta supra 711 and 712 are both AWFUL tires

the kumho ecsta MX is a nice and fairly cheap tire

I agree. Kumho MX is one of the cheapest stickiest tires you can buy. 220 treadwear rating and probably about $110 a piece for s13, s14.

Remember, the lower the treadwear the softer the rubber. High treadwear like 400 is hard as s#$t but will last longer.

ziex 512s suck a$$, squishy sidewall full of flex, run 712s before those, i recomend es100s for those on a budget or even the new fusion (bridgestone) ZRi

I've heard GREAT things about the Kumho MXs and also good things about the Fuzion ZRi. After looking at the specs on Tirerack though, I'm gonna go with the MXs. Go to Tirerack's site and look at the specs of each side by side. Compare the same sizes... The ZRi has a narrower tread width than most other tires of the same size.

Hmm. I'm not seeing the MX's on the site. I found the ZRi's. Those are in my price range at least.
