My friends work in progress (NO 56K!)

I just wanted to post some pictures of my friend's 240 in progress. Some of you probably have heard of him (Ben Abutin), he owns the show-winning widebody Power Enterprise 350Z TT. He stripped out his interior and put on some aero (I'll ask him later what kind) with the S13 Silvia front conversion. He also has some widebody rear and front fenders. He chose the Gram Light gold as his paint scheme since he's also going to use the Gram Lights as his rims. He's installing a rebuilt KA into it next week. He's throwing on some coilovers, Kouki taillights, and some other goodies all in about 2 weeks. Now onto the pics..

Damn, the molded front looks like complete and utter ASS, and I'm being nice. That's the kind of thing that I see in a parking lot and yell at then can't get out of my head during the drive home. Then I look at the line where my bumper meets my fender and I laugh at your friends' lack of style.

Cars aren't meant to have that soft of joints, looks artificial, like some half-talented hack tried to make it out of clay in his basement.

One thing that looks a little weird to me is that the rear bumper and side skirts seem to have retained their edges and aren't molded.

It seems like this guy has the money and desire to build full-scale "models" of cars he likes. If that's the case, awesome. I don't really understand it, but I respect the work and that 350Z would turn my head.

You would be suprised how long molded bumpers will last when done "RIGHT".
I have seen literally hundreds of cars with molded bumpers last years now with out cracking!

Like I said in the first post, the color of the car is to match the gold Gram Lights he's going to put on, and it looks pretty good. He already has them on his car, I just need to take more pictures. (I'll be doing a GB for the Gram Lights at an insanely low price next week if anybody's interested).

Some people just have the money to build something they like. Most cars that people drive aren't even driven to their full potential. Some people like to build show "models" as you people would call it. Also, he has MANY sponsors for the Z in which they give him FREE parts just to show up at the show. You all will see what the 240 will turn out to be. Just because it's a car doesn't mean it's "supposed to be driven." He just has alot of money to spend on a car he would like to put into shows and win. To each his own.

Everyone has pretty much said the Z is a nice car,so your argument doesn't really hold water there. I don't really like the Z personally becasue it's "JGTC Style". It would be cool if it was a JGTC car, but it's not it's a wannabe. If you saw a redneck drving a car on the street that looked just a NASCAR vehicle, you would laugh and poke fun at them. Why is this one cool just because it's "JGTC Style"? Second, not all of us on Zilvia are willing to sacrifice good taste and good sense just to build a car for "Sponsers". I could care less if I ever have a sponser, especially one who would require me to do, or attach something ugly to my vehicle. Molding is a bad idea, period. Unless this is a drag car with a one piece front end, there needs to be a seperation between the bumper and fenders. EDIT: By the way sidewall height of tires is affected by the width of the tires. Sure they might be 45 series but they could be like 195's.

Keyword:SHOWS. They are calling it a poser car because it is not tracked. Just from browsing these forums a bit you would have easily been able to tell that the guys are not much about the show, but rather the performance aspects. Wow, he puts a tone of money into cars that he will park, for people to look at, and never drive.

BTW, what size are his tires???
