i was at work today and i looked out the showroom window and saw a prelude SRV, it was pink!!!

i walked out to take a look at it and it had just been fitted with a kit and pink on pearl blue paint.

i mentioned it to my boss and he took a quick look...

there was a younger white dude in the store and it was a long shot but i asked him what he drove, he said the pink one outside...

he says he just got it back a few weeks ago and he just had the paint done and the combat kit.

he mentioned that it was an SRV with only 50k on the motor, i asked him what has under the hood, and he said,

"i think it's a spoon engien or something"

he didnt know much he said he paid $5000 for a new engien at J-spec in toronto, and $600 for install, i figure for that kinda mileage on it may not be BS,

i asked if he would pop the hood for me, he said sure...

he had a chikira header and exhaust but everything else was stock as he just got it back...

the engine was unmarked... it didnt say Vtec or anything like an SRV engine normally would either...

he was maybe 20 and he's a cable guy, while the hood was popped at least 3 kids slowed in the lot to comment on the car...

nice guy...

thought it might be bs cause he didnt know much, but he was more than willing to show me so...

Pfft, Spoon my ass.  Why would someone bolt on a fucking cheapass Chikara header on a Spoon crate engine? That's like bolting on an APC Intimidator air filter on a Tomei built SR20DET. Aside from that, Spoon doesn't build crate engines for the Prelude.  Yea, they have parts, but they mostly have parts for B16's and B18's. Was the valve cover yellow?  The yellow valve cover is another sign that it's a Spoon crate engine.  damn fuckers are watching too much Fast & Furious and reading too many issues of Import Tuner and Super Street. Besides, who the fuck (aside from that Prelude owners' dumbass) would spend $5000 plus $600 on install for something under the hood, like a motor, which they have NO FUCKING clue what's in it, what's been done, what the specs are, and exactly what it is.

Idiots like THEM make other Honda owners who DO know their shit look bad. I guess I'm just bitter because I have better uses for $5000 and still know what the hell I'm doing. Fucking riceboy poseurs.  This goes for owners of cars of any make or manufacturer.  Take heed, friends, Nissan isn't immune to poseurism either. I'd cry if there's some dork out there with an 240SX with a huge ass OPTION2 sticker, wangan wing, pretending he/she's got a fast car and claims to drift, but in reality, it's a stock KA and the person can't drive worth a damn. ;_;

it is canadian dollars...

and he really didnt seem to be lying, he was more than willing to show, he jsut seemed rather uninformed...

the entire engine was silver, no colours at all, no words anywhere, i dont know anything about hondas but it seemd like the engine was brand new

Spoon doesn't produce prelude (h22/h23) crate engines..and i'm fairly certain they stopped selling ALL crate engines anyway.  They haven't been messing with the prelude engines for too long either since spoon's main goal is circuit racing (h series are kinda top heavy).  It would definitely come with a yellow valve cover and even a spoon exhaust manifold (it was used though so yeah..).  That seems like a decent price too, but hondas are still hondas.

I've come to this conclusion that it's a Prelude Si or whatever the bloody hell it is in Canada (H23 engine) with a factory 2.3L non-VTEC engine with a valve cover that's been repainted silver. Misinformed? Yes. Idiot? Perhaps. Sounds like a nice guy with a stupid car.
