I live in Kansas city, Missouri and we really dont have smog laws and stuff like that. Our inspections are really for like safty/blinkers & tail lights working stuff.
Do you guys think that if I put my sparco harnessess in my car it will still pass inspection?

many or most states technically they are illegal. but if ur area is lax on inspections, they prob won't fail ya. u already have em, right? put em in and see....if they fail ya, swap back for inspection, then swap back to harnesses u really need to check ur local area , cuz every other area will be different!

That's really one thing that I don't understand. If put in properly, 4 or 5 point harnesses are more secure, and safer, then regular seatbelts.

THEY are illegal because it modifies the stock safety system. now if the manufacture put 5 point harnesses in when theuy build the car, then they will be legal

Speaking of inspection stuff that sucks, I don't know if this is the same everywhere, but in NJ, if you have foglights on your car, and one of them is burned out - you'll fail. What's that all about? The car didn't even come with them there at all in the first place! You weren't failing other people for not having foglights, but I fail for having one burned out?! Sigh.

their illegal because the 240sx wasn't crash tested with them. i don't know anything about harnesses as for hold you in better or not, but they don't want you to have them in case you wreck your car and you have to get out due to a gas leak and you're sitting there unbuckling 5 things. also if you cleverly drive your car into a lake, you will be able to get out easier with stock belts. i think those are the reasons.

Aren't 5 point harness's more dangerous anyways if you don't have a roll cage?
Something along the lines that if if roll your car without a cage, it will cave the top in and crush your head because the harness is keeping you upright, while a stock belt lets you lean foward. Just something to think about, may just be a rumor.
