well i've only been driving this for 3 months (had for a year) and look what happened on mon....some asshole(in a big ol' cadillac boat) made a left turn accross an intersection that i was going straight through. I only did minimal damage to his passenger side fender but as you can see i did a bit more damage to my car. I was prob doing about 30-40mph and barely had time to react. I have a non-biased witness that said that i had the green light(he told the cops) b/c of course the young punks said i ran the light. The engine/tranny got pushed back, but i'll be dammed if that son of a bitch doesn't start right up. hopefully i can save the car. I'm not a car expert but i don't think there's any frame damage. I have about 2500-3000 to fix the car so wish me luck

Man if you didn't live so far away, I would go help you out. I'm not the best at bodywork, but I have fixed a few front ends in my day.

http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/473879

Look at page three I did that with no body shop just some hammers, some rope, and a tree. lol. It still needs to go to a body shop, but it’s a lot cheaper now to go then it was. My first estimate was $2333.00 now its $500.00 even. So yeah try to get it the best you can then take it to a body shop to do the fine-tuning. Anyways good luck mang.

i'm gonna assume that there is frame damage

if the fenders buckled there is most likely frame damage

thanks for trashing another s14 :mrmeph:

just kidding.

Also, the bumper bolts directly to the frame. So if the bumper is pushed in then there is most likely fram damage.

engine pushed back = tweaked crossmember = good chance of front frame tweakage

MakotoS13

from that shot it doesn't look like the fenders are buckled. i really doubt your frame is busted if you only broke their fender.

oh and you better sue them or you're an idiot.

judging from the pic, I don't see how there's any way you could NOT have frame damage.

What mods did you have? Will you buy it back from the insurance co? That sux man :( Glad u have a witness!

That Sux Hard!!! Sorry dude... Definitely frame damage there. With $2,000 or $3,000, just buy another one. Once damaged that bad, never be the same again. Oh, wait. That's a 95 right? Well, just get a 93 or something... Good luck.

is it worth it to get the frame pulled if the damage is minimal? I need all the advice i can get, btw anyone know a place that might have a shell if the engine is still good? also how much trouble is it to put an s14 into an s13 if push comes to shove?

not hard to put the engine in, basically same engine, intake is different as well as a couple small things,

with a bumper pushed like that theres definately gonna be frame damage. the hood being crumbled like that and since the engine is pushed back it hadda take some stuff w/ it. I've seen an element w/ less damage than that (and the fenders in ok shape) in my shop and it had frame damage. If anything the front end is kinked upward to say the least. Atleast your ok and good look w/ the insurance.

Man, that car is done, its not even worth spending money to fix it. In the end, itll end up costing double what the car is worth. If i were you, id save that money, find me a nice accident lawyer and sue them fookers for everything you can get and buy my self a better S14. Your in FL, TRUST ME, theres a grip of S14s in FL, thats where i got my kouki.

go to a chropractor to see if your spine is fcuked up.

cause my neck felt fine 2 weeks after my accident ,but the x-ray showed that my neck was a little misaligned.

as long as u have full coverage u might pay the deductible... but i would make him pay for everything... if ur not at fault of course.... 3000 might cut it if ur gonna pay out of pocket.. rail damage is likely.. take some cross measurements and see wheres its at have a shop make pulls etc etc etc..... good luck with it....but the damages too me look like its close to a total or is a total

thanks for all the love....Would i be ok in assuming that the motor will be ok since it starts right up, and by 'ok' i understand that some bolt on pcs will have to be replaced? You know I can't say enough just how pissed off I am. The "funny" thing about it was that I wasn't doing anything stupid, except maybe trusting other people's ability to drive. Man I worked really hard to get the car to what it is, and to make matters worst, I just got my fmic in last week and was planning on getting it installed next week!! Oh well, I still have my health, family, and a stronger desire to build an even better car next time :rawk: :rawk: :rawk:

My repair was a good $4000, I supplied all the body parts and it wasn't even as bad as that... So you're probably looking at a lot more.

It's totalled. Buy it back, part it, and pick up another car to start with.

they should install camaras at each section and have the right to arrest people who run red lights... it may have its negative aspects on peoples privacy and cost alot on the city, but its the only way to limit this crap..

My mom did that once, well she ran the yellow which turned red just before she entered the intersection to make a left.. I got mad and said something, but you know filipino moms.. thier always right...

yeah it looks like i might have to go w/another car....gonna look for an s13 shell that's not a hatch(my girl hates those and she's gonna throw in a 1000 to help out), though i will settle for it if push comes to shove...any opinions on years 89-93 would help assuming that the chasis is clean in terms of stiffness of chasis, weight differences, etc....and also if any of you could give your best guess on whether the engine is salvageable(sp?) considering it starts right up on the first crank....let me know and once again thanks for all the help.
