I want to get a good tire but having trouble deciding on which one to get.
Browsing on tirerack i found yokohama avs and BFG. BFG looks like the better choice but then its a whole lot more expensive. Please list your favorite tire and write how it performed. I guess i drive spritedly or aggressive. So i want a grippy tire with a nice lifespan. could you help me out wid some suggestions?

-avs all the way (with the exception of es100s)
-fuzions are really good bang for the buck
-sumitomo and avons are really good for the price and are highly underrated
-kumhos and falkens are cool too
all you anal hardcore drifters keep in mind he said:

I had some Advan A046s, take-offs from the Lancer Evo VIII, mounted on some aftermarket wheels that I had on my 04 WRX (since sold).
I was very impressed with them, as street tires go.

Anybody try the new Falkens that came out? The RT-615's
Falken ST-115
Falken Gr-Beta FK451's
Falken Ziex
Bridgestone Potenza 750
Out of those tires I've had, I liked the ST-115's the most.

for dan, I would go with the kumoh ecsta 732. It is insanely cheap (around $250 for 4 mounted and balance 205/60/15) and they are really grippy. But the price and general dry grip is not what impressed me. You see, im insane, and i go drifting all the time, especially on the backside (wet side) of palo's verdes north drive. At night september- march this side of the road gets wet because of the elevation and proximity to the ocean. I HAVE NOT FOUND A MORE PROGRESSIVE WET DRIFT TIRE. Whearas most tires turn to slicks (especially "grippy" tires) the 732 has an insanely progressive feel as you step out the rear end in the wet.
If you are a KA guy looking to drift, you WILL NOT be able to power over these tires in the dry, my little brother is running cheap goodriches (used) in the dry, and has a set of 732's i got for him in the wet on his DOHC hatch.
From there, I would only go "full race" Being like an advan or azenis ect.
Personally i cannot say enough about the 215/45/16 azenis sport, beautiful tire, perfect contact patch for sr power s13 under 300hp.
john
(just buy used tires and thrash them, untill you are so good or so rich, expensive tires are almost free) BTW: A "HOOKUP" on tires DOES NOT EXIST

"he delivers his word through sharp rhymes and a tongue wagging flair that's off the chain. hip hop recording artist jin never holds anthing back. not on the stage. not on the street. he's passionate about his ride and he's true to his KUMHO ECSTAS. low profile style that delivers over the top performance. whether he grabs a microphone or the steering wheel jin expresses what's in his soul."
either way, we have a winner

you cant even put those 732's in the same category as the rest of the tires...
damn grandma touring shit...go set yourself and your grandma tires on fire....
and what do you mean a hookup doesnt exist? i can get them at cost and have them mounted/balanced for free? i would call that a hook up

What do you guys get for mileage out of the mx's?
My favorite tires so far.
Bridgestone S-03s - expensive, good ride, good grip
Falken Azenis Sport RT-215 - cheap, not so good ride, excellent grip
Kumho MX - cheap, good ride, good grip
I like maximum dry grip. I'd get a set of the RT-615 if they actually came in the right sizes.

Good to know thanks!
I believe someone mentioned ziex 512s avoid those things like the plague!

i agree i hated the ziex 512's they had weak side walls not much grip and wore down really fast (5 months) i would even pick the hankook hrii over the ziex. thinking of hankooks has anyone tried out the k106 (heard they weren't so great) or the rs-2(suposed to be nice)

the only reason i suggest 732 (grandma tire) is for the kids with the KA (grandma engine).
I really doubt you need road slicks for that blinding 95 hp and 85 ftlbs of tourqe thats actually getting to the ground!!
Add more HP :duh:

I just bought a set of Falken Beta GR FK-451's, they looked pretty good, got good reviews from people. Better sidewall than the hankook k104's and cost less than es100's so I went for them. We'll see how they are when they're on.

Please list your favorite tire
For the street? Anything round that holds air. For the track? Hoosier R3S04's are best but expensive. Kumho Victoracers are more than adequate for most open track events.

The lowest treadwear I can afford is my favorite.
BFG KDs on the sup (super grippy), used Pirelli p-zeros on 240...both 220 treadwear. Mosty street driving.
Kumho MX are decent, 220 treadwear, pretty damn grippy. I don't like any of the other kumho street tires.
