Where: Whittier Narrows Park in El Monte, CA
Time: 11am- Whenever everyone leaves

**There's a $4 entrance fee per car for this event, but it goes to the park facilities, not to any organizers of the meet**

This park provides fishing lakes, comfort stations, picnicking areas, playgrounds, a nature center, an equestrian facility, trails, a multipurpose athletic complex, a military museum, soccer fields, volleyball courts, and archery, skeet, pistol and trap ranges. Tennis courts are also provided and include a pro shop. Rentals are available for boats, surreys, bikes and group area picnics.

We are going to have a BBQ there, so for people going, please bring anything we can BBQ (chicken and beef preferably). We'll provide plates, cups, and utensils. Also, please bring soda (cans or 2-3 liter bottles). We want to have food for everyone going, so please do your part and pitch in.

NICO had a meet there before but it was smaller. Probably around 10-15 cars and it was cool. 100 cars? That might be a tad different so yeah we need regulation to ensure that everyone keeps cool.

Also with a meet this big, I'm betting other imports will crash the party. This is especially true since 240's are trendy right now, and everyone wants to see/own one. These people worry me since they may not share the values of the 240sx community. It seems when people are not part of a vehicle community representing a meet (non-240 owners in this case), they don’t feel any liability for acting stupid since they aren’t part of any of the forums and wont see us again (in person or online). Case in point, I've been told a Mazda 6 was partially responsible for the street racing that brought the cops to the honda-tech/Eibach event.

I think we have to take it upon ourselves to police (for lack of a better term) the event, like documenting (photograph) anyone acting/driving stupid and reporting them. We have to get the word out to people not to act stupid, and hold them responsible for breaking rules. People who burnout or drift in the parking lot should be documented and booted out immediately. Park staff will be around, who can work for or against us when cops show up. That depends on how we conduct ourselves.

The area is patrolled by LA County Sheriffs and CHP, who seem to be the most knowledgeable about motor swaps/modifications. Make sure to show up with your front plate mounted.

Btw, I've been told no alcohol is allowed at Whittier Narrows, so don’t bring any or you'll get the meet shutdown. Remember, one person's actions can result in fix-it tickets or possible towings for the rest of us.

Exactly my sentiments also. I'm pretty sure no one from here will be the ones doing stupid things, but yea, we're the ones that need to police everyone else. I'll be carrying my digital cam with me at all times to take pictures of any persons violating our terms. I just want this (and I know you guys too) to be a safe and fun meet for us 240 enthusiasts.

We can always move the meet somewhere else also, to a free area, instead of paying the $4 per car. I'm all for moving the meet if one of you can find a bigger place or someplace nicer. Another place that I would recommend and is able to accommodate a lot of people is El Dorado Park off of Spring St and the 605. Between the 91 and 405 freeway. It's a national park with a $5/car fee. This is just a suggestion.

It was a saturday afternoon, 4:14 and 23 seconds when i hit that red light at Beach BLVD and San Pablo 4 way intersection.

crowded street that Beach BLVD is, and then next to me comes this Toyota Sienna.

I took one look at her and i knew it was ON.

i was ready, shifted to first with my foot on the clutch i was about ready to floor it even though we had the red light.

light turned green and she was off.

"damn she had the jump" i said to my self, but i was still inching out the clutch and finally it was all out.

i floored it, felt the Vtec kick in, and 2nd, she was only half a car length up and i caught her at 3rd, took one look, she looked back at me. I was like, "poof, bitch be gone!!"

hit 4th and i was gone then i hit another red light, got damnit. she was turning though. my step dad was flipping out (lol learners permit) but it was another glorious day for honda fans all around the world.

If you want just simply say it was by invite only. Start a guest list and have them post screen name and how many friends and cars are coming with them. Print out that list, take it to the meet, those on the list are allowed to park in the 'prime' area. everyone else just fends for themselves and parks around us.

I know how we can keep them out. If you have altezzas you can't get in. If you have a wing higher than 1 foot you cant get in. If you have a tip bigger than 5 inches you cant get in. If you have a tach with shift lite on a automatic you cant get in.

Since you really have no experience doing this at a park that charges an entrance fee, do yourself and everyone else attending a favor and go talk to the park ranger on their policies regarding these group gatherings.

Most likely you will have to pay a $50 "deposit" or at least give them verbal notice regarding use of the facility, because they want to know what types of events are being held at their facility.

For Mile Square I have to give the rangers at least 30 days notice. Two years ago we almost got kicked out because one guy was trying to do burnouts, which would not have been cool since out of 130 people only one person was being stupid.

In any case, unless you have a permit don't rope off sections. That is a big no-no. And check with the park to see if anyone else has already reserved the park.

Public parks can be reserved beforehand with sufficient notice...
