ok so my motor basically overheated and died. so i find a guy with a motor thats too good to be true.... its a rebuilt KA24DE with forged rods and pistons, and a ported/polished head. it all sounded good until found out from another source that it had overheating problems. any ideas as to what could cause the overheating? (i know thats a broad question but maybe something about the rebuild caused it) and what do you guys think? should i buy it anyway and assume responsibility? oh and so you know the price is $700 with 5spd tranny shipped.

i was hoping you wouldnt say that :(
my only other options are to rebuild my motor and hope it runs or sell it as a rolling chassis but then ill barely get what i paid for the car so then im out of a car....
i dont have the money for an SR or CA or any of those. this makes me so sad! i had my car for 3 months and it died.

I agree, I think you should just pick up a different KA without any major problems, then stick some money into modding it if you wish. Buying a modded engine isn't always the best and it sounds like it has problesm too. That is just my opinion.

yeah i would do that if i didnt live in the middle of nowhere. im in newport oregon. the only other 240s around here are running, and are SOHC
i wouldnt know where to get another KA. come on guys isnt there someone out there who just did an SR swap or something that does need their KA?

Its obvious the engine has issues. No one builds a motor and than just lets it sit around or try to sell it. If that motor was any good it would be in an engine bay right now. Don't rush it, take your time and you will find a good motor.
Good things come to those who wait ;)

Try posting on the WTB forum or check the for sale, those things are all over now since SR's and CA's are the hot swap....also google search for some used engine places shipping usually isn't too terrible and there are a lot of 240s on the west coast luckily.

if u dont trust anyone just buy a reman one.. lots of money but its a sure thing....u willing to drive to the bay area and pick up a cheap ka? its not worth it to me to drive etc etc... and pick up a used high miles engine... REMAN REMAN REMAN
