What would be better, the 300z na with axles, 95-j30 with axles or the 95+j30 VLSD?  How hard is it to swapp in the axels?  Which is better....not easier, better!!  thanks

300zx NA with axles 4:O8 gears- bolts into car no driveshaft shortening
Pre 95 J30 with axles 3:92 gears- bolts into car but needs 1/2 off driveshaft or ABS driveshaft(measured drivesafts today)
*note some people have made it work by compressing their center support bushings( not ideal)
95+ J30 3:92 gears-bolts in but is the same issue with driveshaft that Pre 95 has.
I am listing all this just to give you all the info.
which is better? well they are all R200 VLSD's the only differences are gearing .
what are you planning on doing with your car?
If you are going Turbo then the J30 would be better suited for you due to the 4% difference in gears . Thereby keeping your engine in boost a little longer in each gear.
remember in Japan and Europe S13 SR20DET's S14 SR0DET's and S15 SR20DET's all have 3:70 gears because of the Turbo setups just like the gears in a 300zxTT which are 3:70.
Now if you go NA then you could run the J30 some people do and claim not to be able to notice the 4% difference.
Though if you want to drag race then you would probably want to stick with the 4:O8 gears which means a 240sx VLSD or 300zx NA .
Well thats everything you have to figure out what works for you .
Technically no one rear end is better it just depends on the application.
hope this helps

Thanks for the info. &nbsp; That helps a lot. &nbsp;God I love ZIlvia!! &nbsp;last question is how difficult is the swap of axles? &nbsp;how much if not done myself? &nbsp;thanks

Check this out:
http://www.240sx.org/links/installs/lsd2/index.htm
The 300zx output flanges are different - as i heard they are about $150 each from nissan and i think u need 2, so add $300 right there.

If you check the link, the guy says that the ABS sensors that are on a 95+ J30 LSD didn't cause any trouble for him but then he heard some people had some problems with that... (Question: can't you just remove the sensors if the car doesn't have abs?)

Personally, I'm planning to upgrade and i'm going to use 95+ J30's LSD if i can find one...

Oh, and btw, http://www.240sx.org/links/installs/lsd/lsd.htm <- this guy used '93 zx LSD and he got complete instructions there.

hey Kreator the stuff on 240sx.org is out of date. &nbsp;I took care of the 300zx flange issue . you just bolt up pre 95 J30 axles to the flanges on the 300zx &nbsp;VSLD and your good to go . they are the same length as 240sx flanges and yes this is a completely tested theory . People have done it here in socal

meant to say axles when I said the 240 flanges are the same length. so it should read
240 axles are the same length as the pre 95 J30 axles
so that means on Pre 95 J30 VLSD's and on 300zx NA VLSD's you can use pre 95 J30 axles to bolt the setup in without having to change to flanges .
Which I sell with the VLSD so you don't have to find them.

oh yeah , thanks grant for the quick edit on my earlier post hehehe <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Hrm so do u mean substituting the 240sx axles with the pre 95 J30 axles instead of changing flanges? Wouldn't it be more expensive? Also how much do u charge for yer VLCDs + shipping (zip:20904)?

I want to install a turbo later on, so maybe J30 is better for me... btw, if u do a turbo (say 300hp+) is it worth changing to the tt's vlsd?

the flanges are more expensive I can get the axles for $150 seperately for both sides.
But I do sell the Pre 95 and 300zx NA vlsd's with the axles so you get a even better deal and don't have to hassle .
I actually have a 96 J30 VLSD' too if you want it. shipping on the ones with the axles is like $85-90 and shipping on the ones without the axles is $70.
putting a TT VLSD in would require more modes because it has a totally different input flange and will not bolt up to our driveshafts.
you would be better off trying to get a VLSD off of a clip from Japan. Though you don't see those to often.

So what's the price for the 96 J30 VLSD?
what about the price for the 300zx VLSD with axles?
