Hey guys. I've beem searching for coilovers for a while now and the only decisions I have made is that I wanna get some from a reputable company (no Megan Racing D2 shit) and I would like to have camber, height and dampening adjustment. Another big part of my decision will be the price since I make my money flippin burgers at burger king lol. These are the coilovers I have fournd (all prices in Canadian):

JIC FLTA1 - 5 way dampening adjustment, twin tube construction, height adjustable, pillowball upper mounts, $1380.08 shipped
Tein SS - 16 way adjustable, twin tube construction, height adjustable, no pillowball mounts, 1440.61 shipped
Tein Flex - 16 way adjustable, twin tube construction, height adjustable, no pillowball mounts, 1767.48 shipped
Tein Super Drift - 16 way adjustable, twin tube construction, height adjustable, no pillowball mounts, 1767.48 shipped
Apex'i N1 EXV - 32 way adjustable, mono-tube construction, height adjustable, pillow ball mounts, 1502.01 shipped

The coilovers I will be purchasing are for a daily driver S13 coupe. The car is also gonna be used for auto-cross and track days when it gets warmer. Which one of these coilovers would you pick keeping my criteria in mind? Also, any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

jics not that good quality/support from what i understand, flexes are cool, super drifts arent even out yet so itll be hard to find out, search for the thread on the n1 exvs. oh yeah, MR and D2 arent exactly crap...

The tein flex and super drifts are supposed to come with pillowball upper mounts.

I'm gonna be ordering the super drifts when they are available, in just a couple weeks. They are gonna be alot stiffer ride than the flex. The flex is good for a daily driver/weekend track car. The drifts wouldn't be very comfortable for daily driving, but if you're a true enthusiast you won't mind being knocked around a little bit. :wiggle:

Damn, I was hoping you guys weren't gonna say the Tein Flex or Super Drift. They are the most expensive outta the coilovers I found lol. I guess you get what you pay for.

please consider the spl parts coilovers, made by kts. they're 1140, last time i checked.

i haven't heard any bad stuff about them, so it might be worth at least consideration.

good luck!

I second the exv = MR post and second the buy KTS from SPL
On that note most twin tube coilovers just dont seem to hold up to the serious abuse that gets dished out. If you drive you car very hard i wouldnt recomend that setup, but thats just my opinion.

What's the beef with the JIC FLT-A1US?

I almost bought a set for my '04 WRX (have since sold the car).

Are the Megans and the N1 EXV's just the same manufacturer or are they actually an identical (coloring aside) product? <---question directed primarily at umsports, because he knows what he's talking about.

KTS (from SPLParts)
GP Sports GR6

JIC is overpriced and has shit support, run a search if you wanna hera some horror stories... TEIN is good for what you pay, but you can do better for less (KTS)...

GR6 pwn. Ask the search button, he'll tell you.

Good luck

I don't see where you come off saying that d2 or MR coilovers are crap. I'll give you that the d2's are not the top of the market, but they both make really nice coilovers. Apparently you've researched and if you would have researched d2's or MR's you probably wouldn't be dissing them. IMHO you are completely ignorant and should never speak unless you know what you are talking about.

can i ask what it is that people don't like about the D2's? now that they have been corrected i think they should be considered by everyon. I personally like how they are aggressive enough to have some serious fun but still offer a streetable feel. We have been using them on a lot of DSM's lately too and man they are kicking ass.

I didn't know you had those. I've got to come see how they ride.

And just in case you're wondering who the hell I am....

<-----"HashiriyaS14" (formerly "HashiriyaGDB") on NICO. You still offering to help repaint 2BN_S13's POS Sileighty? lol. I'll help.

we've been discussing it vaguely

right now things are not so good at my house so doing big work on ppls cars is kinda out of the question

but yeah, once i get all the kinks worked out in my car i'll take you for a ride in it. Feels pretty good, slightly bouncy since there are only like 300 miles on them. And something is rattling in the rear, sounds like it's the coilovers but i dont really know...i havent gotten a chance to really dive into taking them out and checking up on everything

I have Tein Basic Dampers on right now, their ok for a start, but I want more, and something compatiable with the EDFC from tein. I'm more into making my car stick around turns but I also do drift once in a while. So If i cant get a nice set of teins with Adj. Upper Mounts then I'll probably go with silk roads or the ones from SPL.

Are the Tanabe Sustec S-S and Type II rebuildable?

I like the GP Sports setups for tighter budgets, if you're insane about your car and have the money, our coilovers are very good.

http://www.topsecretjpn.com/sus.shtml

We've been working with Aragosta and Swift to produce them since back in the day...if you know suspension, you know why we use them to build our sets.

Buddy Club racing spec!!!! I'm biased though. My decisions came down to silkroads, gr-6s, and buddy clubs. I ended up choosing buddy clubs. I like them more than silkroads but between gr-6 and buddy clubs, it was a toss up since they are priced the same. I chose the buddy clubs in the end.
