Today i decided to do some "spring cleaning" on the tactical 240

I drove my car all winter :gasp: and road salt dirt and shit was all over my suspension parts and needed cleaning. I also knew there was some overspray on my coilovers from when i got my car painted. so i bought some PURPLE POWER and went to town. halfway through, it started raining. So i didnt get to spend as much time as i wanted to. Eventually i want to spray my fender wells with some type of undercoating.

on to the pics

I want to take this time to say that TEIN Flex coilovers are worth every penny i spent on them. They have been on my car for a year, daily driven through brutal Pennsylvania weather on shit Pennsylvania roads and they still perform and look great. The teflon coating on the shock body shows absolutely no sign of rust. THe only part that is corroding is the pillowball mount which you can see in the pics. Not sure what type of material that is, but im sure it will clean up when i actually take the coilovers off of the car and thoroughly clean them.

hope you enjoyed your easter as much as i did, my back hurts now :hahano:

up next, battery and windshield washer tank relocation.

we need to finish my 300zx brakes... which ive had sitting here for a LONG time.

after that, cusco and SPL adjustable links for the rear, powdercoated subframe, lower the car another inch, and the Nismo / Kumho wheel/tire setup goes on for spring.

Give it a few days and it'll get dirty again...

It's like washing the tread on your tires... what's the point?

Still clean nonetheless..

I'm sure the judges at HIN will give you an A+ for cleaniness.

Soon I'm putting my car on jackstands and pressure washing the several pounds of dirt lodged in my underbody from the New Englad roads around here... Looks great! Love your car.

its a concentrated cleaner like simple green

worked really well. i was careful not to get any on my paint. but for the anodized aluminum and powdercoated calipers it worked great.

better put some anti-seize on the threads while theyre out...

Ian
03-28-2005, 05:29 PM
which threads should the anti sieze be on?

sw20>>s14

strut body threads. not required, but its good practice considering that you have snow, road salt, and all the regular non east coast elements (dirt, road debris, etc.).

Did you use a pressure washer or just a hose and a scrubbing brush? I need to do that with my car too....once the weather gets better.

Nice and clean.....yes I do use purple power on my engine bay and everywhere else with great results. You can use on paint as long as you dont let it sit too long. And it you have :p smooth hands use gloves...HEHEH!! It will crack the heck of your skin if not carefull.....

I
up next, battery and windshield washer tank relocation.

Where are you relocating the windshield washer tank? Out of curiosity, I like moving stuff from where they were origionally. and I have an intake plan for my car, which would benifit from a moved washer resevour.

im going to put it in the trunk with my battery and run a line for the fluid... hopefully the pump is strong enough to pump it through the extra length.

if that doesnt work, im just going to get rid of it... i drove all winter without even having windshield nozzles at all. it sucked sometimes, but im used to driving sometimes with a dirty windshield

Just put Rain-X on your windows, no need for windshield wipers or fluid.

I guess you've never been to FL. I have rain-x wax just to see out the back during rain. You need wipers down here and you go thru them a lot faster.
