I've been reading about how great Seafoam is, and I've been having idling/hesitation/stuttering/etc problems, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I used about 1/3 the brake boost vacuum line and the rest I put in my nearly empty gas tank. I'm about to go back outside (in the rain) and start 'er up. Wish me luck!

Thanks for all the enthusiasm...even if it was satiric.

Anyways, no smoke. I'm cleaning out the AIV right now...holy carbon!

If there's no smoke you didn't put enough in. If the entire fire department shows up, that's probably a little too much..

Damn...alright well I'll get more later. I'm done for the evening.

ive done this twice already and noticed a difference in my idle, im doing it a third time before i go for e-test, as well as putting it in my oil to clean out the guts.

How much did you put in the brake boost vacuum line? My 1/3 didn't seem to make a difference, even w/the other 2/3 in the gas tank.

usually, 1/3 in vacuum, 1/3 nearly empty gas tank, and 1/3 in the crankcase should be good. make sure to change the oil after you do the smokey thang. not sure, but have heard that spark plugs, o2 sensor, and cat may or may not be affected. some say that the spark plugs go bad because of carbon. same with o2 sensor. and some say cat might get clogged. others say...well they dont. you tell us, it seems that these claims are mixed...

Well I didn't do the crankcase portion...I put that into the gas tank. I didn't feel like changing the oil since I'd just done it about a month and a half ago. Also, my O2 sensor is really new...say 2 months, so I don't want to replace that either :P I could change the spark plugs, but I did that as well when I got the car, about 3 months ago. The idea of replacing all those relatively new things isn't all that appealling.
I didn't get any smoke when I did it today. Salty X said I most likely didn't put enough seafoam in the vacuum line. Kind of disappointing...I was planning to smoke out the neighborhood!
Oh, and my car still runs shitty, even after that and then cleaning the AIV completely - reeds and all. Guess I just continue down the list of things to look at.

good point i guess. when i do it, im going to take off the cat because im expecting to install a new exhaust anyways. plug the sensors with a bolt. and change the crappy ass old spark plugs anyway. so even if the claims arent true, i didnt do much extra work. i guess it works out for certain scenarios. and yes, i am gonna seafoam with open headers! just be glad your not my neighbors...hahaha

If I had the money I'd be doing new exhaust too *sigh* Have fun making enemies in the neighborhood :)

On another note, made an appt to get my seatbelts done on Wednesday, and they're gonnna hook into the car and see if they can figure out wtf is going on...the guy I talked to today said he thought it could be a corroded injector wire. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
