Ok I am considering getting a new turbo I am looking for a max of 350whp want to keep the engine completely stock..
I don't want to spend a heap of money on a GT ballbearing turbo, but I do want the turbo to be as responsive as possible.
I am thinking something like this (t3/t4 50 AR .63 turbine 50 trim) would be good but am unsure of the spool time anyone know or have any reccomendations?
Have done a search theres a lot of questions but not a lot of good answers.
Cheers :2f2f:

Well after searching Fresh alloy I think I have pretty much decided on this turbo. garrett t3/t4e 50 trim, .48 stage 3 .
Any comments. :ughug:

that sounds like the right choice if you are implying the .48 is the exhaust a/r. I'm not a SR guy, but i have the same setup with a .63 exhaust a/r and wish i went with the smaller.

Yeah .48 exhaust. That and a 38mm Tial should have plenty of flow. When are you reaching full boost?

As for full boost, a whopping 6.5psi, i probably hit it at 3-3500 and she pulls from there. I hope to turn it up this summer, but i need a few supporting mods first....
.48 a/r is the way to go for response on a SR or KA IMO, i wish i would have know that before.

currently running .63 a/r exhaust, .60 a/r intake. basically about 60 trims.. tubular manifold instead of a log style. 38mm gate.
boost around 4.5k ~ 4.8k, 1.1bar. way faster than stock turbine at same boost. i like it, basically very laggy, but thats what God gave us a shifter for. i dont do straight line stuff btw. so yes its good on the touge. first gear is too much for most mountains(edit: and i suck at double cluching to 1st anyway), so get used to late apexing the low speed corners or u wont be hitting boost till 10' before braking point, lol. than again running 10/8 kgm spring rates, gotta be gentle anyway.
driving impressions: i toast my brothers s2k on the uphill, i ran out of brakes by the time we head back down so yeah, he kills me on the downhill. id say basically exhaust a/r is most important, and if u are going with a tubular manifold maybe stick with a/r in the low 50's. if u go to a log maybe u can get away with a 60's but id feel safe with a high 50's. ive felt a .48 a/r sr, nothing to write home about. t28's with ball bearing feel better in my opinion. my friend tried both a 48 and 58 or something, and the 63 a/r's on a 1.8L honda @1.5 bar. .48 was like 30 horse less on the dyno than the 63, and the 50 something was like 4 horse less than the 63.
u probrably know this already, but t3/t4 is supposed to be a faster spooling cuz of hybrid design. if u spilt the intake and exhaust rations too much, as well as wheel trims, u lose all plus sides of a t3/t4. meaning, dont do a .72 intake a/r, with a .48 exhaust a/r....thats funny, u always list intake ratio then exhaust ratio, it should be called a t4/t3, lol... anyway yeah, btw, .6o intake a/r barely fits in my low mount setup, and at 1 bar 38mm external wastegate is way more than enough boost control valving.
edit: most people going to t3/t4 setups that i know go for decent sized turbines, and know that itll be way laggy compared to stock(most t3/t4 setups ive seen never go for the "nonlaggy" setup, just minimizing lag as much as possible), if u dont like lag than perhaps a s15 turbo would be better suited for u. otherwise have fun and post pics^^

and another thing, oil....
sr's rely on oil for cooling, most importantly pistons squirters and valves, without oil there we'd fry valves and pistons like KFC cooks frechfries baked , not fried.
my point? t3/t4's dont have water cooling centersections, make sure u run a low restriction oil cooler. although t3/t4's dont build much heat compared to their smaller counterparts, but still, heat buildup is heat build up.
just my .02

Sounds about right to me. Enjuku has a nice t3/t4 kit you might want to check out. If not to buy it, but just to rip it off somewhat. WHOOPS I DIDDNT SAY THAT

Yeah I will do that. The T3/to4e .48 .50trim will make more then 350whp and thats all I'm after a S15 turbo will not come close. Be seeing boost as low as 3000-rpms with the T3/4 which will make it alot more enjoyable to drive then a larger turbo keeping in mind I am after 350whp not any more.
Yeah this is basically the turbo they use on the Enjuku kit anyone know where to get a decent/affordable log style maifold to suit a tial 38mm and this turbo for a SR? Probably looking at getting the turbo from a camp1320 Has them for $520 not sure about that turbp above...

btw, ask for a turbo map. thats the best way, u cross ur displacement with desired pressure ratio, and look for a turbine where it falls in the high efficiency part of graph. i might be wrong i bought my turbo like 3 years ago><
personally boost at 3k rpm is mundane to me, and id rather pick a better gear. but thats preference isnt it?

Damn!! You might want to ask them to see if it works on an s14. Maybe just save the money up and get a fullrace? Its a good dream and all...
