Where can I find a KA24de engine for my convertible 1994 240sx? Also, is there anyway to get a SR engine of any size to pass an emissions test (in New Jersey)?? Where can I get a 5 speed manual transmission for my convertible??

Well, as for the tranny, Ive got one for ya. If your interested, i just put it up for sale today.
Heres the link:

If your in Jersey, we could get away without the freight charges. The car is up at my college by Albany, NY, but if you win the auction, Id be happy to throw it in my truck and bring it back to Jersey next time I go home.

Well, where to start. First off on the subject of replacing the engine. You have to options. First you can get another ka24de and have worked so that it can handle being turbocharged which is a costly and complicated process that is well worth it. Or just do that to the engine you already have by having it rebuilt which would be necessary to turbcharge it anyway.
The second option you have is the good old sr20det. Now the problem you face with that is the legality of putting a turbocharged engine into a non turbo car. They way to legally do this I have been told is to register it as a salvage. Which clumps it into a nasty category that will make it impossible to sell to a dealership. But I would look into that further because I am getting this information second hand.
I am aware of 2 companys that will sell you an sr20det engine and *tranny. Yes that is right the price comes with a silvia tranny so you have your transmission problem solved. To do that you are looking at around $3500 for the package which has everything you need except new clutch spark plugs etc and some other things that you will need. In total with installation it would cost you approximately $7,000 to do this. But you would have a Silvia!
Now back to the ka24de. The ka24de has a cast iron block which is stronger than the sr20det which has an aluminum block and a 2.0 liter displacement. The ka24de block is good to around 400 horsepower and the sr20det block is good to around 350 horsepower or so I have been told. the ka24de has piston oil jet sprayers that cool the pistons just like the sr20det has and the ka24de has a single piece crank like the sr20det which is strong enough to be turbocharged. And the engine has 2.4 liters as its displacement which is a bit larger. All in all what I am getting at is you can rebuild your ka24de and put lower compression pistons in it and a new fule pump and injectors plus a piggy back ecu from JWT(Jim wolf technologies) and have a faster car for less money that the sr engine swap.
If you want to look futher into the sr20det here are the web addresses for the two comopanies:http://www.heavythrottle.com/

I would just look up on the internet what it would take to go either route.
