The other day me and my friend started arguing about the differences between the 300zx and300zx 2+2(if any) he said that 2+2 300zx is actually longer than the 300zx. I said its still the same just an interior difference . Now we both agreed to this post on zilvia.net to figure out the truth. Please any help would be appreciated . Now since he has an s13 with redtop and i have an s14 with a black top a bet was made and the loser buys the winner an Apex AVCR.

a dealer once told me that the 2+2 is longer. also said the 2 seater had better handling because of it. i didnt see the facts on official nissan manuals, website or catalogs. but thats what the guy told me.

According to this website (http://www.fiendation.com/300zx/300zxfaq.htm):

What's the difference between a 2+2 and a 2 seater Z?
For starters, in the US, the 2+2 was only available as a non-turbo car. It is a couple hundred pounds heavier than it's 2 seater counterpart, and about 6 inches longer. You lose some trunk space, and the rear seats are not extremely useful, and you'll be hard pressed to fit anyone over the age of 12 into them. I personally think the longer 2+2 body is a nice looking design. You can quickly spot one by looking at the driver's side - the gas door on a 2+2 is behind the rear wheel well, whereas on the 2 seaters it's in front.

BTW, did you guys search? That was the first result on google.

No searchin was done , just bragging , but the thing was if you parked 2 of them side by side would it be noticeably different ?

Well, that's pretty subjective and since $300-$400 is on the line I doubt you're going to be able to agree on that.

I'd say 6" is enough to mess with the perspective of the body lines if they were side by side. So, yes. I think you'd be able to tell.

ive seen both, there is an obvious difference. Sounds like you owe him quite a stack of cash eh? I believe the 2/2 were only available as turbo's in japan.

Absolutely. The 2/2 is based upon a chassis that sits two available passenges in the rear, as to the standard fairlady, no seats were incorporated. Both came turbocharged, Not as many were produced in the 2/2 model. So whomever doubted the 2/2 was longer, get me an AVCR as well. . . at one point I wanted a fairlady BAD.

The 2+0 has the fuel trap in FRONT of the rear left wheel, while the 2+2 has the fuel trap AFTER the rear left wheel. The following info is only about models that can be bought through local dealerships (not converted, not privately imported)

In the US,
- ALL the 2+2 ARE NA, there was no 2+2 TT imported.
- The 2+0 can either be a NA or a TT
- Convertibles are based on the 2+0 model
In Europe
- ALL the 90+ are 2+2 AND TT
- The 2+0 are not available
- The NA are not available
In Japan (not absolutely sure about this...)
- The 2+0 can either be TT or NA
- The 2+2 can either be TT or NA

I had previously owned a 300zx 2+2, I've heard that they are a little wider from the rear then a 2+0

US 2+2 NA only was probably meant to be the "cheaper alternative" insurance-wise, that's probably why it wasnt turboed.
