Hi,

I am planning on replacing my radiator in anticipation of my N/A motor from Rebello.

I've heard good things about Griffin and Fluidyne. I prefer to keep the price around $200 without the electric fans. The fluidyne integra radiator "fits" with minor mods, so I heard. I believe that summit racing sells a setup with electric fans as well for about $400.

I plan on going electric fan as well. What would you you folks recommend? Dual Fan or Single? Also, I want to keep my AC so maybe a larger fan is better.

Thanks in advance.

I've got no answers for you, but I would be interested in some of the details of what you are doing with the engine. I am still trying to decide on whether to swap or stay N/A. Please PM me. Thanks!!

Nathan

both Griffin & Fluidyne r excellent quality . its prob cheapest to buy a rad (ie Fluidyne Integra) thats pre-made, but u might consider having either co custom make one for ur car.
Perma-Cool & Flex-a-lite (FAL) r 2 of the popular elec fan mftr's. check sites for tech, cfm, size info

I maybe be shooting to get a griffin, I am sure I can find one of their domestic radiators that have the top hose spout on the passenger side. Aren't fords like that?

I believe the size of my radiator is 25W x 18.5 H or something. Have to get out and measure it this weekend.

Other possibility is a radiator out of a VW rabbit or scirroco. Lots of grassroots racers use these in their cars. They supposedly cool very well, compact design, and are made of aluminum.

Maybe I can jerry rig a rabbit radiator with a electric fan setup from a newer VW or something?..hmmm..thats an idea. You can get rabbit radiators for a little over a hundred bucks. The fan, I can pull from a junkyard.

The electric fans sold on summit and other sites look okay, but I rather have a setup with a built in fan shroud that I can bolt on - kinda like the integra fluidyne setups. I don't like the idea of mounting a universal electric fan with zip ties, or the push in tabs that go into the radiator sinks.

Okay I found a scirocco radiator built by Griffin, the model number is GRI-2-58185-X. You can peep this at summit racing.

The tubes are 1 1/4 inch for both inlet and outlet. Both tubes are located on the passenger side, which i believe is perfect. Also, there seems to be a electric fan that it comes with. All for under $300 bucks. What do you fellas think?

well you could stay with the stock Nissan design just get in down up by a radiator shop in 2 core i.e. 2 rows instead of the stock one row . Then go out and get 93 Altima fans they come close to bolting right up to the stock radiator(only a few mods needed) they also wire right into the stock harness via your air conditioning fan connection. this has been done on socal several times in the last couple of months . Its the way I am going for my Turbo setup.

The altima radiator will work, but looking at the online diagram at www.performanceradiator.com it looks like the lower inlet/outlet spout is on the drivers side and not the passenger side. The dimension are 15 1/8 x 27 1/8 and 1 1/4 thick, so it is pretty close to the 240sx radiator size. Looks like you will have to route the lower spout with a j pipe and some rubber hoses. Not sure tho. The pic on the site maybe wrong; i've never seen an altima radiator in person.

By the way, the size is 14 1/4 x 25 1/2 x 5/8 thick for the stock s13 ka24de radiator.

Now, I found a suitable upgrade. This place sells a 2 row all metal radiator for $119 bucks shipped... This is a 2 row replacement radiator for a 89 D21 hardbody. Dimensions are 16 5/16 x 25 1/2 x 1 5/16. Length wise, it is a direct fit. Core height wise its a bit longer but I think you can manipulate the fitting to work. The actual radiator depth size is 1 5/16, which isn't an issue (its only about an 1inch), a mute point if you go electic fan setup.

I think this the best bang for the buck radiator. Dual row, proper spout location for ka24e(de), and a good price.
