Dude, did you chew those holes out or something?

Andrew Bohan
03-23-2005, 03:11 PM
my friend only had a 1-7/8" hole saw and i needed 2" holes. i had to do the rest with dremel and a crappy grinding bit. won't be able to see the edges when the gauges are installed anyway, so i don't care.

Sil Beer S13
03-23-2005, 03:40 PM
well at least it will work, right?

KoukiMonster
03-23-2005, 03:58 PM
its going to look good when its finished. i can picture it. just don't make the paint thin and don't leave brush strokes.

i would say spray paint it and matte it off with newspaper and tape. but do several thin layers at a time.

Drunk Bastard
03-23-2005, 04:23 PM
andrew, i told you that you coulda used my hole saw.... :loco:

Andrew Bohan
03-23-2005, 04:33 PM
you weren't home though. and you always wanna go to fuddruckers instead of making gauge panels anyway

i'm gonna primer it then paint it with semi-flat black. should be fine.

infinitexsound
03-23-2005, 05:22 PM

Andrew Bohan
03-23-2005, 05:33 PM

ThatGuy
03-24-2005, 05:05 PM
Ugh, you used all the same color wire? Oh well, whatever works, right? Nice job so far Andrew, anxious to see it completed. When are you making the "Stealth" addition?

p.s. Get a new shift knob.

Andrew Bohan
03-24-2005, 05:12 PM
i wasn't going to try to find wire that matched the oem wire

green
green red
green blue
green yellow
blue
blue yellow
blue white
blue red
turquoise
turquoise yellow
brown yellow
brown red
yellow black
yellow red

using any color besides the oem color still requires me to trace it from the wire i cut, so fuck it. all green wire :)

ima get a new shift knob soon enough
stealth coming soon too.

lol you guys got served !!by Drunk Bastard

Andrew Bohan
03-27-2005, 09:14 PM
my gauge cluster is from an NA S5, but my car is a turbo S4... so it just LOOKS like i can rev high...

i got it cuz it looks so much better than S4 cluster and it has a voltmeter instead of boost gauge, which i didn't need cuz it's super inaccurate and i got the defi anyway... and it was free.

Drunk Bastard
03-27-2005, 09:40 PM
technically you CAN rev really high...but no need when your peak power is at 6k

:drama:

Andrew Bohan
03-27-2005, 10:02 PM
there are times when you wanna go past peak power. like, what happens when you shift at peak power? rpms might drop too low. so shift higher and rpms won't drop too low.
it's not really problem in my car tho. i think FC gears are closer together than 240 gears.

cheez80
03-27-2005, 11:25 PM

you cannot change the color of defis. the bf link gauges come in regular or amber. i'm not sure about what colorways the d-gauges come in, though.

*edit*
the d-gauge "light is produced from high intense LED lamps. A bright transparent amber gauge dial and a red instrument pointer are used in the gauges to increase visibility at night and low-light applications" (www.defi-shop.com).

either way, it's a good affordable gauge.

Maeda
03-28-2005, 12:23 AM
I made a new cluster piece for my car as well.

Uh, hate to break the news, but your name says otherwise.

I have my opinions, but this is neither the place nor time.

To stay on track, I didn't know the E Manage came with a screen. Pretty good deal.

my namesake meaning utter sincerity somehow implies that i'm dissatisfied with my life? oh, and here i thought it was a word in a foreign language that had a ring to it while carrying some philisophical significance. my real name means "from the dark water" or "from the blood river" but i have a bad habit of being creative with my life so makoto is gonna have to do for now like zero, antares, thanatos, marduck, starsight, and deletrix have in the past.

darnit, nailed like a nickel whore on payday.

who said anything about being dissatisfied with life?

1. maeda said you're being an "asian wannabe"
2. you disagreed
3. i pointed out that you're using a japanese name as your screenname

 if it's your thing then that's cool. no one said you're acting like an asian, and no one denied your upper middle class american-ness.

/end, enough bandwidth wasted

andrew, the gauges look great. you must have had a pimp gangster help you with the install !!!!!1

who said anything about being dissatisfied with life?

well, to assume that one wishes for another life is to assume that they are somehow discontent with the current life they lead.
