Hey Guys,

Megan has been working on the new KA-T stainless steel manifolds for probably 6 months...

We have had awesome success with their SR20DET manifolds and the KA-T's are being made by the same manufacturer overseas....(It's gonna be a high quality product)

I'm going to be posting pics and specs tomorrow of the new KA-T turbo exhaust manifold, as I'm pretty dang excited about this....

MSRP is set at $350, and we will be releasing them for $199...

Stay tuned...

Chris

P.S.- Here's a pic of their SR20DET manifold....also $199!

These better be stronger than the SSA ones.

umsports
03-22-2005, 10:22 PM
I promise they will....

We already have looked at the SS Autochrome POS's and are making sure we are in no way similar to them...lol...

Is it simliar to SSA where you can use SR aftermarket parts (i.e. FMIC kit, downpipe) ?

umsports

That I will need to check-on, not sure...

MR is coming up nicely these days. I remember buying their universal N1 exhausts for my s13 3 years ago, before they were even known.

umsports
03-22-2005, 10:33 PM
Yeah, I have been working with them for almost two years....Back when the only thing they had for 240SX's were exhaust...

They make all the prototypes in Los Angeles, and then they are sent overseas and replicated....explaining how they are able to make their parts so cheaply...

no love for SOHC...haha oh well. Sounds like a good deal cheap and good quality

hmmmm what turbo is it gonna be made for... i would like to use my t3/t4.... but yeah must be better then ssa those are crap....i like the idea of a good quality SS one for a very good price

umsports
03-22-2005, 10:54 PM
I believe T3/T4, this was the original idea....and I dont think this has changed...

Any pics for the KA-T manifold? Please realize that the MR sr20det manifold shares alot with the SSA manifold:

I'm going to be posting pics and specs tomorrow of the new KA-T turbo exhaust manifold

Let me interpret the above message into English......I'm going to be posting pics and specs tomorrow....JK

How's it been Jeff? How are the coilovers working out?

umsports
03-22-2005, 11:08 PM
Jeff, yeah I realize the manifolds are identical, as I believe Megan copied SS Autochromes design...or vice versa..I've done forgot the story...

But the material is different between the two, and the Megan one is much stronger and the holes are ported much better with no debris left loose in the runners...

People already have been using the sr20det manifold for awhile haven't they? If so are they known to crack? Where the customer reviews.

umsports
03-22-2005, 11:39 PM
Yeah, I'd be curious to hear this as well....

That would be fair and unbiased...

Just make sure you aren't posting reviews about your SS Autochrome manifold!

TK
03-22-2005, 11:40 PM
thas not a bad lookin manifold, and a good price to boot... do you have any specs on the what type of stainless they used?

Jeff240sx

People already have been using the sr20det manifold for awhile haven't they? If so are they known to crack? Where the customer reviews.

OBX, SSAutochrome, Stone Racing, Megan Racing, and literally dozens of other companies had the same (insert forgotten manifold maker's name here) company make manifolds for them.
So - they all got lumped as "SS Autochrome", and no distinction of cracking has been made between companies as far as I know. They all just got the bad reputation.

Again, do you have preliminary photos of the KA-T manifold? Or a description (equal length? semi-EL? Flange thickness? Turbo placement? Downpipe to be used? ect...)

Jeff, I dont want to say anything specs wise, until I know 100% what they ended up with...

I promise to post back on here tomorrow with a full spec sheet...

I'll also ask about the SS Autochrome connection and see what I can decipher...

Megan has made it very clear they aren't using the same manufacturer....So, I'll dig a little deeper...

either way. if i pick one up im slotting the bracket for heat expansion and welding stress bars and getting the damn thing jet-hot coated. Once done it should last along time considering only Full-race, revhard, boostdesigns seem to only have turbo maifolds that aren't prone to failure. altho the boostdesign one has not had long term use from its customers. I still prefer his setup over the MR one. altho a better exhaust wheel would be nice for quick spool applications.

damn I'd really like to pick one up... but the similarity to SSAC is really sketching me out... Any kind of warranty on these things in case it decides to fall apart in 2 months like the SSAC ones?

Jeff240sx
03-23-2005, 09:03 AM
Again.. that pic above is the first SSA/MR manifold made for a 240sx. And was a bottom mount, stock location sr20det manifold. There was a similarity in those.
However, we don't know what's comming up with the KA manifold.

ALL tubular manifolds will crack at some point. It's the nature of the beast. Some sooner, some later. From what I can tell with the current mani's on the market, Installation has more to do with it than anything. i.e. making sure they are supported properly, and that the downpipes aren't allowed to pull away from the bell housing.

Oh and Chris I will be installing those coils in a couple of days and sending you pics of the 240(and maybe the skyline). It finally has the trunk back on after repairing some rust under the spoiler and filling the holes. I am gonna slam it!

that is definately not the shape of our ports. just a prototype?

Our head flange, not our port shape. Pictures taken by a guy whose sig states "SR powered", who is test fitting it on - ??.

I would like to see that head flange after 100 miles or so. And the odds of getting a gasket to seal seems low. Why wouldn't that be made with the correct shaped ports?

So I take it this manifold is designed for a T25 or T28 turbo?

u should be able to use any turbo that the SR bottom mount can use...i.e. t25/t28, GT2871R etc...

not to mention u can use the SR hotpipes
