View Full Version : Got head back from shop, think this is ok?

So i took my head to Abacus Racing down here in Hampton Roads to get all seals replaced valve job and valve guides. This pleasure cost me 416bucks and untill hour ago i was very happy. noticed that there is s lil piece broken off the head where guide is pressed in. First pic ... other 2 is jsut pics of the head for
anyone who cares. I dont think this is serious but i just want 2nd opinion form someone

If you pay them, they should do their job right. Thats what I think. I don't like ignorant people, expecially if they forget that you're shelling out over 400 bux to not break shit.

It doesn't look serious, but it's still ignorant work.

that's why it has a guide insert for the valve

if you've ever worked on cylinder heads, the castings arent that great and can chip easily w/ a bit etc.

doesn't look like a big deal to me :mepoke:

I do all the head work and fabrication for a big chicago muscle car shop, i do it all from little honda's to our 6 second dodge avenger door slammer, almost always you will get a little chip off when you press the new guides in, its absolutly nothing to be worried about, As long as they cut the seat using the new guide as the pinion point you should be JUST fine,

Pitty they didnt do a little port work while they were in there :whip:

P.s. make sure to check cam to shim clearance, good chance its all out of wack.

yeap wouldnt matter its valve guide . like rezlo said shim clearance is a big thing.... dude would of been nicer if they cleaned up the castings... and open it up a little..
