I BOUGHT A 95 S14 240SX AND ITS IN A DECENT CONDITION. IT HAS ABOUT 90K MILES. IM TRYING TO TURBOCHARGE IT BUT I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THE ENGINE WOULD BE ABLE TO MANAGE THE TURBO WELL. THE ENGINE I THINK IS NOT IN ALL THAT CONDITION BUT ABLE TO RUN. SO IF I CANT TURBO THIS ENGINE, IM THINKING ABOUT GETTING A NEW ENGINE. I WAS THINKING SR20DET, BUT ITS TOO EXPANSIVE AND THE KA24DE'S ARE BIGGER, SO ID RATHER KEEP THE KA'S. HOW MUCH DO THE NEW KA24DE'S COST? AND CAN I STILL TURBO MY OLD ENGINE? PLEASE HELP ME WITH THESE. THANKS.

First thing's first. STOP YELLING. Dang it's so hard to read when things are all in upper case. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Now that I've read your post 3 times (and finally made sense of it... yes, it's true that lower case is easier to read and can be read faster) I would have to ask how many miles are on the KA that you currently have. That'd be some good info methinks.

What kind of turbocharger were you thinking of? (range?...) and how much boost do you plan to run? Give us more to work with, and you'll get some better responses.

And for God's sake (and ours) please, PLEASE don't use all caps unless you really have a reason to yell.

Yes, please don't use all caps, its extremely annoying. &nbsp; And for the topic, next time put something that lets us know what your asking like "turboing old engine or buy new" &nbsp;or something like that.

Now, I dono what cond' your old engine is in but you might want to do a rebuild before you turbo if its not doing so good. &nbsp; There are no "new" KA's but a used KA can be had for about $500, more or less depending on mileage. &nbsp; After a rebuild on your old engine and turbo kit or buying a new engine and turbo kit, it would end up about the same as a stock SR maybe more maybe less depending on how you do it and labor costs. &nbsp;Either way expect to spend AT LEAST 3k+

Dude,

Get a compression check done, this will tell you more about the condition of your engine then anything. 90K miles in car X isn't the same as 90k in car Y. Since you are not the original owner, the previous owner could have neglected everything or abused the car. You really don't know.

Compression check will determine whether you have ring seal issues, leaking head gasket, etc. This is only a start. How does your car run..idle smooth..good power...decent mileage? These are all factors to consider.

If all this checks out and you have a good "gut" feeling, turbo the son of a bitch. Worst case scenario, the motor blows, you do a rebuild and put it all back together.

neways i bought the car about a months ago. the car had exactly 90000 miles. now its about 90150miles. im pretty sure the car is not in a good condition because the car rattles a little bit. and plus, i dont think the car is at its full power. the first couple gears are ok i guess but after that, not so much power. i know 240sx's are low- end cars but i think my car has a problem. so a question. what is rebuilding engine mean? putting it apart and reassemble? wouldnt it be better if i just get a used better ka24de with less miles? is it really around 500$? where can i get it? can i know everything i need to know about the condition of my car if i get a compression check? please help me again. thanks</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>
