Hey there. I don't know if this should be in General Chat, but seeing as there is no Beginner or Newbie forum on this site, that's where I'm posting this.

I'm not into drifting to say the least. I have been looking at possible road course/autox/drag cars, with a big emphasis on drag. I know I'm probably going to get alot of replies telling me to buy a domestic if I want to drag, but I already have one and don't prefer it. I really like a properly done Sil-Eighty and was wondering what are the fastest ETs and trap speeds out there for these cars? What is the best setup to run for drag in these cars? KA24, SR20, RB20, RB25, RB26, what? I have heard SR20 is best for drag because the RB series engines overload the front of the car with weight and create a ton of wheelspin. I doubt there are many on this board who have their car set up solely for drag, but if any of you are out there, please chime in because I'd love to hear about these cars on the strip.

www.freshalloy.com has a few guys that run solely drag there are a couple here but i am not sure if any of them use SRs

would a sileighty have the best aerodynamics?? Id stick with teh stock front end, and gut the headlights etc.. Well as terms of power per dollar, RB swap would probably produce the most power, since you can just start turning up the boost with provided bolt ons without touching the internals..

SR would be good too... run a big top mount turbo, FMIC, fuel managment and stand alone, cams etc should yeild good Hp numbers... If going KA, you would have to rebuild the motor with stronger crankshaft arms cams etc.

I prefer autocross and here is why: In one night/day, you can get more time on the track at an autocross race than you ever will on a drag strip. You also learn a lot of more of how the car reacts to certain stimuli in an autox more than you in a drag race. Also really tests your hand/foot/eye coordination in autox more than drag racing.

for the reasons you pefer autocross, maybe he perfers drag for his own reasons.

My Sileighty with a stock SR, stock suspension and stock vlsd ran a 14.6 on 94 octane. Hope this gives you some baselines to start out with.

Oh my god what turbo is this? Please tell me its not stock. I'd feel like a failure if this was done with stock turbo, computer, AND fuel!

Shit.

the weight difference between the RB and SR or KA isnt that much and it doesnt throw off the weight of the car as what you would think. There are a couple of people who weighed the car and the weight offset wasnt that different as stock. There are plenty of people who have the RB and actually tracks/drifts it and has no problem with the weight issue.

As for the motor, its pretty much your preference on power goals and how much you have to spend

haha...my boy is hitting 12.9 with stock injectors and turbo. Heads port and polish, with stock manifold port match and ported too.

Anyways back to the topic. Iono if you know this by the fastest S chassis drag car if im correct is the HKS 180sx Drag car with a RB26dett in it. IIRC, that sucka was hitting mid 7s. Ive seen a RB26 equipped S13 that run a low 12 on stock boost and open diff. Imagine that at 14-16 psi and a diff.

This topic should be about 240sx drag racing pros/cons, for clarity's sake.
If *nothing* else, sileighty should not be a consideration, seeing as how it's just a 180sx with different body panels.

This topic should address pros/cons of dragging with S13 chassis.

Blah. I guess I'm feeling anal-retentive today.
I'll be back after I take a huge dump.

On this thread.

stock turbo......hahaha

S-AFC or is he running stand alone? Also what kind of tires? I ask because there is this pesky little civic hatch that I think I can take with stock turbo/injectors and he is just dipping into the 12s...

I've got engine back, S-AFC, greedy FMIC, Profec B, etc...

he dynoed at 268.17rwhp w/ 282.23tq @14.7psi

and for tires 17x7.5 Kosei K1 (rear) w/BFGoodrich T/A Drag Radials.

Sweet, Guess I need to order an LSD, and call my buddy at Schuab and get some stickies on my stockers. Then I'm gonna go ahead and tear up "the fastest civic in Washington :naughtyd: "

The time is impressive i guess for a stripped hatch or whatever its just the power its pulling for the mods it has that's high. That guys car is a freak.

Anyway Anyway. My guess is for drag racing a full 180sx style car would be more aerodynamic than a sileighty but for what its worth aerodynamics wont matter too much between the two.

i should be pulling the same times with a few more mods and i will be happy with that, with out upgrading my turbo.

oh my. Im interested in knowing the full specs of your buddy's car, like how much boost and what type of ecu/fuel managment or if there is any internal work.

wow all this talk about me, i feel special now :x lol

Well as far as i know my motor is completely stock, i've torn the motor down and to me it looked relativley stock. But lately i've been looking at a few other dyno graphs of t25's and my hp is slightly higher but torque is completely different.

Either way i know for a fact that my ecu/injectors/mafs is completely stock. As far as cams/turbo i will be doing a full check eventually to see why i'm running higher numbers than majority of the people out there.
