just finished installing a blacktop s13 into my 1990 240sx and i am having some problems and maybe some of you guys would know what would be causing this.
ok so got the motor in, wiring all done and double checked, all piping complete, go to fire it up and it fires up but then "pop" "pop" it back fires like crazy and doesnt want to idle properly, and when you give it a lil gas it will sputter and once you let go it wants to die, what could this possibly be? cam angle sensor? timing? any help is appreciated! thanks in advance

if its backfiring my best guess is timing...misfiring is different..
alot more info is prolly needed to diagnose, but honestly double check everything first, wiring and what not

Did you check the timing as well? That's my guess...

at that rate, firing order?

thankfully, firing order is hard to mess up on a sr(harness has just enough length to reach respective plugs) unless of course ur 180 degrees off on your cas.
if one cylinder is dead than ull experience some crappy feeling motor action><

wow u guys are great! i appreciate all the help, the issue ended up being a bad wheel inside the CAS, got it fired up now and runs good but when i step on it and release it still backfires?

did u follow FSM to install cas? that gives u almost perfect 15btdc. if u use a timing light instead u gotta unplug TPS. (after car is hot, shut off, unplug tps, turn back on, rev to 2500 or some doodliepoo, then shoot timing)
and if u are using a BOV venting atmosphere that might give u a hiccup, mine used to backkfire a little till i tightend the woosh screw up...alot.

yea if ur SPRING in the BOV is weak it will leak out and create vacum leak ---> rough idle. check also vacum leaks in coldpipe around couplings, etc, you dont need a big hole...
also go to timin chain part in FSM and use instructions to set stock timing. also make sure your throttle body cable is calibrated right, i have to redo the braket on mine....
good luck!
