who uses steel intercooler piping?

hey im just wondering who where uses steel IC piping? Any problem with rust? Apaprently i have some rust in my piping.... what should i do in the future to prevent rust?? anyone have any ideas? The ones closer to the end of the pipes i can sand out but there are some way down in there.

my hotpipe is mild steel I just sanded it and painted it with ilke 1500 deg high temp paint now it matches the aluminium pipes on my blitz IC kit

mine is not long term though so i dont know how this will help on the inside of hte pipes

Just clean it out and spray it down with some hi-temp paint.

"just clean it out" HAH thats what i want to know how to do.... the rust is INSIDE the piping. The long long inter cooler piping. how the fuck do i reach that??!

hmm..to sand the inside would be pretty hard...the only ways i can think of is getting new piping and spray painting the inside so in the future u won't deal with the rust problems so much. Or you can get aluminum piping which doesn't rust..or so i have heard.

Easy way? find a powder coater or somone that does "jet hot" coatings, they always blast the inside and outside of items with micro glass bead before they coat it which will remove any impurities aka rust

LO-KO coatings in Chicago does a GREAT job with "jethot" coatings and they are cheap to, not only will it not have rust but it will look real nice, wont rust again and makes it extreemly smooth inside for better flow?

I had some V6 headers that were all rusty coated by them and now 6 months latter they still look like brand new.

How many U bends do you estimate it would take to make charge piping for a FMIC on a S14 with a S14 SR20? anyone (sorry a little off topic)

Did you build the pipe yourself? If so, make yourself another one with aluminized steel, aka. exhaust pipe. But they make acids that eat rust when you apply it to metal. Just squirt the shit inside of it swish it around and rinse and dry it thouroughly. Ive heard of people coating the insides with high temp paint but I am weary of the crap flaking off and be sucked in by the motor.
