this is to all the people who live in SF, mainly who lives about 15-20mins drive from SFSU.
im transfering up to SFSU in the fall 05 and need a place to live. i dont want to drive from SJ to SF everyday, so was wondering if anybody on here that lives up near around there have an extra room or needs a roommate to lower the cost of housing!
dont care if you smoke watch porn all day or watever, but if you have a pet i rather not stay there. also a personal garage would be nice, ill pay for the space

I commute from SF to SJ Mon-Thurs. It isnt that bad now that I am use to it, plus the drive on 280 is great. I go to SJSU of course.

I did the same thing... for a semester. Then I took Caltrain down. Easiest thing ever. Now that they have "express trains" I heard the commute from SF to SJ is like 50 min (instead of like 2 hrs) By taking the train, I avoided buying that parking pass.... the last semester I was there, it jumped to $160/semester? Definite bump up from $81/semseter. I could read/study/sleep on the train and it would be fine.
I know a lot of SF people did that, but its definitely a long ride. I was only on San Mateo.
To the poster: Expand your area of searching --- think about other parts of the city and take public transportation or farther back like Daly City or even Millbrae. (Yeah its a longer commute, but it might be something to consider). I heard parking at SFSU is even worse than SJSU. Good luck!

SJSU c/o Dec 2003 :)
Why SFSU? I'd say SJSU > SFSU any day. But then I went to neither so I don't have any 1st hand experience.
And for rooms, if you know Chinese you can read the Chinese papers. They have a lot of people who rent out downstairs rooms w/ kitchen/bath in their houses for cheap.
As for parking, good luck... your best bet is to rent a parking space in a garage. To go most places in the city, you do not need a car. Street parking is hard to find and some people can't parallel park and scratch up your bumpers.

You don't want to be driving your car around SF State anyways, parking and traffic is a bitch.
