b/c my rims/tires are too big, it rubbed a hole in the harness under the left fender. the wires are still intact, but parts of the metal in the wire is showing. will this cause a short? i know i need to rewire it, but im wondering if this can be the reason why my car still wont start?

yeah it may
could be the reason
many problems arise from people who dont relocate the wiring harness up

it can cause shorts if they touch eachother or metal. and your shit must be dumped to mess up the wiring under there... :ugh:

ive got 16s, with a 225, and 9k springs up front and dont rub, however when my car sat a little bit lower ,it used to hit the plastic liner, rewire it, wrap it up, and raise the car a little bit.

at full lock my tires rub on the inner fender liner enough that u can hear it inside the car. i've got a 2 inch drop on 17x8 +35 but it doesnt rub on the top just the inner liner. how far down is ur drop?

i got 18x9.5"+17 all around right now on stock fenders and slammed. dont be a pussy, just losen the fender, and tuck the harness up in between the frame and fender and then tighten it back down again. it will stay wedged up in there away from harm.

17x10 + 24 in the back 245-45-17

im going to run smaller tires, bigger stretch once these wear out.
i dun think its a matter of being a pussy. i drive like this fine everyday. until the tires rubbed through the harness. i dunno if the wire exposed requires induction to be safe and not cause shorts. something is frying my ecu.
here's a brief:
i backed into my parkingn spot, and th ecar suddenly died....very gracefully might i add.
tried to turn on again, it cranks, but nuthin. i didnt see a spark so i got new spark pluggs and wires. (needed changign anyways)
then i realize i dun hear the fuel pump. checked it, it was not pumping. i checked grounds, relays, fuses, everything.
so i buy a new fuel pump. installed it....nuthin. i resetted the ecu, didnt work. i kicked my car, and then it worked......WTF ..i hear the pump, but car still not starting.
my check engine light does not turn on, so im guessing my ecu is fried. cant get any codes from it.
i rolled it to pep boys down the street to see if they could diagnose the problem, with voltage meters and all. (I HAD SCHOOL, i had no choice)
after realizing they are total dumbasses and i knew more than they know, i towed it to a nissan specialist.
my car is a 93 240sx. i brought in a 90 ecu just to see if it will start. i switched it with a new distributor, rotor and cap. it started, but then teh RPM does not work.
turned it off, and it never turned on again. the 90 ecu is fried. my guess is that the wire is causing it. but i doubt that one wire, not touching anything but air could be the cause of a short.
if anyone has ever had this problem, any hints, more things to check for, please help me out. i have been MIA for 2 weeks.
anyone who can solve this is my fuckin HERO!! HELP ME!!!! I NEED TO DRIVE!
thanks, Nigel

Well lets start off by figuring out...what the hell are those wires??? Post up what color the wires are and maybe somebody got a FSM to see what wire it is. shiet better yet, take a picture of it.

i wore through some of mine, but all it did was stop my "pop up headlights" button from working. i think it was a purple and a brown wire i killed?

After you get it fixed, if you drift on a regular basis you should rewire the harness to go inside the engine bay. Fatlace has a write up on how to do this on this forum or go to driftunit.com. If you search hard enough you could find it. Otherwise you can zip tie the harness up higher into the fenderwell.

Just FYI for other people reading this who have their car super slammed and havn't relocated their harness..... DO IT! There are some very important wires in that loom. For example the ignition power which runs half the stuff in your car. Fuel pump, starter etc. Don't chance it.

Nigel, S13 guys can tuck the wiring harness high up in the fender well and fold the piece of metal over it, but i'd suggest relocating it to the engine bay like i showed u on my car
