Question for you guys: Me and my friend went to a local junkyard and picked up all four calipers off of a 90-96 300ZX. I know this is a popular brake upgrade for 240's, but what all do we need to make it fit onto a 1997 240sx SE 5spd? Will the 300zx rotors bolt on since its also 5-lug? I know we need the calipers, rotors, pads, but do we need new brake lines, brackets, brake shields and such? Any imput is great.

Yeah. You need lines. PDM sells some plug and play lines. They're $100.
No brackets or anything, and I just clipped my heatshields.

other than modding ur brake back plates/dustsheilds and PDM hoses, front is that easy
iirc the rear 300ZX calipers don't have e/brake capability. my understanding is the 240 uses the brake pads & calipers for e/brk, where the 300ZX rear rotor has small "shoes" inside the rotor.....totally different style. u might be able to mod the e/brk cable hookup, but i've not seen done so don't know if possible . plus iirc u need the rear spindle assy to even fit the 300ZX rear stuff . hope that helps

Make sure you have all the pins, clips, springs for the calipers as it cost like $70 US from the dealer just fro the fronts.
For the front, you need 2 pins, 1 retaining clip, 1 caliper spring for each caliper.
You might also wanna get the brake pad shim kit (from dealer) if you want to eliminate the squeaking sound when braking.

Is the $70 the price for only the pins and clip? Also will the brakes fit 16'' rims? I heard people saying that they won't fit 15, but noone mentioned if they fit 16...

He's got a good point. Will this clear the stock 16" rims? Oh, and by the way, thanks for all your imput everybody!!

The 30mm and 26mm Z-brakes can fit under the 1995-1998 stock 5-spoke 16" rims without any problem. No spacers are needed what-so-ever.
Happy?

Holy! $950 for the upgrade? You must be kidding... That's 1/3 of the price of the turbo kit i'm saving up for... I think i like my stock calipers more for now

damn! $950!! We picked up all four calipers at a junkyard for $130! He also picked up the front two rotors (Brembo cross drilled and slotted) for $130, and brake pads for $40! But they are selling brand new Calipers, so I can see where they get the price....

I live in Houston. We actually picked up the front calipers at $50 a piece, and both rear calipers for $30. Just go to a junkyard, 300ZX's are not rare.
