Alrighty, heres the dirty, I was going to fresno from salinas, about a 2 1/2 hour drive. 20 minutes away before getting to fresno, my car starts bogging out on me. When I fire it back up I hear a really weird sound from my turbo and i start to smell something rich. I pulled over to the side and its about 10:15PM and I could not see shit. I checked all the vacuum hoses with my cell phone lcd scree cuz i didn't have flashlight... wow =P Luckily a tow truck stopped to the side to pick up my car and take it. What a way to spend 50 bucks that could have went to gas on the way home. Other factors that I have been thinking about were, maybe i used the wrong gas... 91 is suppose to be fine.. am i correct? I also used octane boost cuz im sure in japan they run on high octane anyways. This morning, I take a look at everything, and it seems like nothing wrong. I revved my motor at 5 and i see this big puff of smoke and my car dies out. If anyone has any information on what i should be looking for, it'd be a great help and i have work tomorrow at 1... =X

Does the smoke reek of gas? If it does it may be a stuck open injector. I had an injector fail immediately after using some injector cleaner. I dont know how that would cause the turbo to whine though. You may want to take off the turbo inlet and see if the turbo can be spun by hand and if it has shaft play.

I never used any sort of injector cleaner whatsoever. For the most part, it was just octane boost. i think it was called 101 octane boost in a black bottle, good for like 12 gallons but i only put in half.

got a vac pressure gauge installed? could be a boost leak. of some sorts.

EDIT: No I don't have a vacuum/boost gauge installed... kinda low budget right now and i forgot who i lent it to... got one for free before i had the sr installed. Yeah, I just can't seem to find out where the leak is... where are most of the vacuum lines? exhaust side right? and another thing... my car keeps leaning out! wtF!?!? a REALLY REALLY rich smell... i checked my spark plugs they're fine...

Ran an ECU diagnostic and found one code "35 Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor" and thats about it... i dont know what that could mean, but does anyone wanna emphasize?

leaning out and running rich are the opposite of each other. Are you sure one plug wasnt black as hell? Do this, its called a power balance test. Pull the connector to each coil one at a time with the engine running, the idle should drop significantly, if one cylinder doesnt change, thats the problem cylinder.

you can have a boost/vac leak anywhere in your piping, not just in the vac lines....re-do all your hose clamps and check it out again?
