hey civickilla, Kid Zelda is right all North American continent 240sx's that had LSD's in them were VLSD's . yours are out of 96's that means they are VLSD's. ask Nissan or ask Irena(s13grl).
Also if you have a 97 J30 it does not need the axles with it. 97 J30's had the 6 bolt flange just like on our cars.
It was the pre 95 J30's that need to use the axles and the only reason you know that I am guessing is because I went out and tried it. Kid Zelda posted on FA (because he knows me) about it and I posted about it here.

do you need they drive shaft or any other parts that arent in the differential?
drift freaq

well, if own a S13 your going to need a ABS driveshaft, or shorten yours, because most late model VLSD's had ABS sensors on the front of the Diff. so it makes it 3/4 of inch longer. All J30 VSLD's had this.
On S14's without ABS you can cheat by compressing your center support bushing . People have done this , its not ideal. Smart people just either get the ABS driveshaft or shorten theirs. its up to you YMMV <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

If they don't have viscous coupling.... and they're from a 240sx... then they're an open differential, not an LSD. .
Also, you won't need to change any ouput flanges for 95+ j30 swap to any S14... No mods... only for S13.. which you should have to do, and also change the rear cover?

ok lets clear this up
S13, you need to put the back cover off the S13 open diff on the VLSD if the the VLSD is J30,300zx NA or S14,
you also do need to shorten the driveshaft on the VLSD out of a S14 or J30!
you do not need to shorten the driveshaft on the 300zx NA because the ABS sensors are above the output flange.
If you own a S14 the only thing you need to is possibly shorten your driveshaft if you are a stickler for doing things to spec.
I.E. J30,300zx NA and S14 VLSD's have two bolt covers versus S13 diffs having 4 bolt covers.
now that we have explained this backwards and forwards it should be clear <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Unless the junkyard mis-labeled the 97 J30 diff it has different output flanges on it.....well anyway i will take 300$ for them.....I will clean them up very well before sellling them....

Did you buy all the LSD's at a junkyard? Do you guarantee that they work properly?
RedSuns
03-28-2002, 10:04 PM
yes they are in working condition....there are no warranties issused by the junkyard....I only have 1 J30 and 1 240SX diff. left......
