Please people, I really need your help. I did a bunch of searching on the site and found that a bunch of you have done custom speaker set-ups in your car. Many of you have said you managed to fit 6.5 speakers in the doors of your S13s. I made a speaker box that fits exactly in the spot where the worthless back seat used to be, and mounted two Pioneer REV series 6x9s. If you have seen these speakers, you know they have a kinda lame spoke looking cover.
My problem is this, my girlfriend bought me the REV 6.5s, and I want to make them work. I pulled the door speakers out, and just set that piece over the whole and saw a problem. The stock speaker holes leave about an inch of opening on either side of the speaker.
My question is this-If you fit a 6.5, did you use the stock speaker cover? How did you cover that whole or at least make it not noticed?
If you have pictures of how you did it, that would be great.

Take a piece of 1/4" MDF and cut it and mount it to the stock baffle location. Cut a hole for the speaker. Mount/ connect speaker. Done.

Well Ski Mafia, you might have gotten some help if you didn't attack the first person to offer advice. I'd strongly suggest you appologize if you expect any help from Zilvia.

BTW, it would seem you are the one who failed to read. Kandyflip gave you all the info you needed to fill the "wholes" on either side of the speaker.

I do appologize. I have had a rough time on this forum trying to get anyone to help me with my problems. It seems that everyone here is such a know it all, they just assume that if you have only 10 posts that your are nothing but stupid. Its just slightly frustrating.
I understand what he meant by his post. He is giving me a solution to the holes that are in the door frame, not in the snap-on cover piece. I can definitly figure out that much, and I know I can conjure some solution for the holes in the door. Maybe I havent been clear with my problem.
Lets start fresh. I have 6.5 speakers. I need to make them fit in the doors of my car. Simple enough, right? I understand that I can mount them where the stock speakers used to be, but if I am not going to use the stock speaker covers, I am going to have a opening on the vinyl on the door.
A solution I had though of was to tear all the vinyl off the door, make some plastic fillers for the hole, and re-stretch some new vinyl over the entire door.
It seem like a lot of work, and I want to avoid doing it if someone can suggest something more similar. Now, can someone help me with the use for maybe 3-4 paragraphs?

sorry, only have a one line solution. use the stock speaker grills.

i did pretty much what you are doing, except i used 5.25" component speakers, and the stock grills workd fine after i trimmed off a little of the panel at the top of the opening (still behind the grill, it didn't leave a hole) so it wouldn't rub the speaker surround.

I had thought about doing that, and if I cant work some other solution, it may be my best option. Check this link out and you will see the speakers that I am dealing with.
I think it could be pretty cool if I can make some custom setup to make them fit to where you can see them completely.
