my tranny started acting up 2nite. it wouldnt shift into gear, it would just grind or not go in at all. if i rev match, i can drive it, so needless to say, im gettin pretty good at that so, i guessed it was the syncros, but could it be something else? what should i check out? should i just dump this tranny and try and pick up a new one? thanks...

have you tried to check or change even you clutch master cylinder, I had the same sort of prblem, it was my clutch master.

I changed it and the slave and it works awesome now.

ok, i just ordered a clutch release bearing, and ive examined the lines and cylinders, and i havent noticed any leaks or anything... but if the CRB doesnt fix it, ill look into replacing the master then the slave. thanks!

Just check the throwout bearing before ordering it. Get underneath, look at the slave cylinder piston, and see if it moves when someone pushes in the clutch for you. If not, it'll probably be leaking fluid around the piston. If everything appears normal, wiggle loose the rubber inspection boot, and look on the bottom of the bellhousing for throwoutbearing pieces. If that's all there, the only thing left is synchros. Is your tranny rumbling?

have anyone had problems with shifting in to 1st gear while the car is rolling to a stop (like 1 or 2 mph)? it grinds pretty bad but if I make a complete stop and then shift to 1st it's fine. i just brought this car so I don't know if this is normal or not?

ok, i examined everything again today. i bled the clutch, and after that, it was amazing!! it was silky smooth! but, it went bad again... so, i think its gotta be in the hydraulic system then, right? so, i checked it out, and the slave was sorta wet. it was leaking around teh bleed valve, at the base. so, i ran over to the junk yard, and i replaced it w/ what looks to be a good one. ill try it out 2nite, since i was almost late for class, i didnt get to bleed the clutch yet. ill keep ya updated!
