If it's a GTS, buy it, other than that, don't bother, especially if you have other things to spend your cash on. Sounds like you got more cars than you can handle/need anyways.

you have to give us a year because there are different types of corolla's the fwd and the rwd ones the rwd ones go from 84-87 if i remember correctly and they came in 1 of 2 models the sr5 and the gts

im pretty sure the sr5 isnt fuel injected while the GTS is

the sr5 and gts have different guage clusters, engine, transmission, diff, suspension, seats, wheels, brakes, etc etc... the sr5 is carbureted (3sfe i think) and the GTS is fuel injected 4age.

try club 4ag they probably got a FAQ on this subject

SR5 are mostly 4AC's.

It's up to you. sr5 are really cheap anyway. ur gonna have to redo the fuel tank and fuel lines to switch over to EFI. the 4ag engines are real cheap tho. (less than 500) u can go 20v or supercharged (4agze). there are other swaps. the 4ac put out like 85 hp and thats not fun. it would be wise to change the rear end to a gts. just think about if u want a new project. 250 is a good price, but there is a lot of work in those cars.

3sfe could found in old 90ish camry.

I had a 86 GTS a while ago and seriously i love my 240sx better. the car is so old that almost all the bolts are impossible to work on (either, strip, break, or not moving at all). Also parts are expensive and hard to find.

the 4age is a nice motor and high tech with TVIS system, but it cannot pull as strong as ka. If you want to go for 4agze or 20v 4age, that will be fun but still cost lot of money to work on.

I also test droved a SR5 with 4AC motor, it is very weak. I think it runs slower then my 92 civic cx hatch with 70hp motor.

the us 86 sr5 had 4ac. the japan ae85 had 3sfe. how is 4agze or 20v a lot of money?

All i will say, is that out of all the cars i've owned and driven, i have never had more fun in my life than my 1985 4ac poweredToyota Corrola SR5! Seriously. I will post pics of it, if any of you have your doubts of how a 45whp car could be so much fun!

I am sorry that I did not know jdm sr5 has 3sfe and it was a very shocking information for me. Because 3sfe is 2.0L DOHC compare 4age would be 1.6DOHC....so an AE85 has more power then AE86? Also i never had a RWD 3sfe...... if so, is the old rav4 and celica would be rwd as well. correct me if i am wrong.

and i was trying to say that to build a ae86 might cost more then 240sx.
I think SR5 is slow, hard to work and not fun just personal opinion, it might be just because the one i drove was not in best shape or it just that i dont like it.

the ae85 had the 3au. i got mixed up. i knew it was 3 something... but ya you are right that most 86 need more work that 240 since they are older.

I was interested in getting A Corolla a little while ago because 240's were blowing up and i thought it would be cool to do something different and I assumed corollas were cheap, which they are for the car alone, but to make it a car that would be a decent drift car is pretty costly as was stated parts are kind of hard to find and are pretty expensive and also working on them is sometimes tricky becuase as it was said before bolts are sometimes impossible. I really like the car and how they look they just sound like a big investment. Either way that Is my opinion on the car I don't own one I am just relaying what I have been told. I guess it would be neat if ytou just had a stock one and played around in it. Good luck

yeah, so i checked out some small upgrade possibilitiies for it with a 4ag swap.

whether i go EFI or Carb conversions on the sr5, it would cost the same, and its too much for a dailydriver.

the 4a in it might run but its not certain and ive seen people givin them away so it wouldnt be hard to get it runnin..

ill call him this weekend and if the guy hasnt chopped it up yet then ill take it

i say buy it strip it and rebuild from the ground up if you want a project car. Start welding weak points together and basically put it back together. It seems like a good place to start to see from the ground up how a car is made.
