When have some of you people changed the timings on your cars?  What made you decide to do it.  Is the chain considered a wear part.

no, the chain is not considered a wear item by nissan.  you should get it changed when it begins to make excessive noticable noise. usually b/w 60-100k miles.  a small amount of chain rattle is acceptable as long as it does not get louder and softer.  must stay very soft.

Well, that's about as wrong as can be. Sheesh.
(You did get the-chain's-not-a-wear-item right, though)

How much do you think replacing the timing chain would be? &nbsp;I think the loud rattling sounds in my car is the timing chaing... or maybe the tension rods or the guides??? &nbsp; But yea how much to replace either one of these... hope it aint too much... &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>
