help!... family car issues

my sister toyota corolla needs a tune up (pre 94)and a bunch of other stuff done... before i go off and mess stuff up..... i noticed she doesnt have a tach..... i need one to adjust the timing.... the manual calls for this hand held tach. unit and no autostore has one... does anybody know where i can get a tach to use on this car? can i use a cheap tenzo R one? or would that not work?

i figure id post here while i search online for a solution.... thanks for any replys...
