I just wanted to see how well 17x8 rims with a +35 offset mounted on 235/40 tires will fit on an s14. I know most 240 guys run crazy offsets and usually need stretched tires, crazy camber, and/or rolling their fenders to accomplish this. I dont want to do ANY of that. I see guys running wider rims than 17x8 and running skinnier tires than the 235's i'll be running. I also wanted to stick to the same size rims/tires on the front and back so i can rotate my tires. Anyways, how well will these rims fit on an s14, will they be flush with the tire size im running? Will these look sunk in? Please consider the tire size along with the rim before replying, thanks!

With 17x8 you shouldnt have any problems at all, i've seen guys running 17x10's in the rear with little modification, i'm probably going with 17x9's +35 offset all around so i can also rotate my tires. Like I said you should not have any problems at all. What wheels are you buying or do you have and do you have like the Z32 brake upgrade at all??

i'll be throwing on a set of 5zigen typhoons. I dont have the z32 brake upgrade and dont have coilovers, just tein/agx. Thanks!

Yeah you will be fine, there shouldnt be any problem, the only time i've seen people start running into rolling fenders is like 10'' wide tires with really stretched rubber, specially 18's.
Check out the Group buy section they have a group buy on 5zigen FNO1R-C's the new ones with the silver lip and people where asking about how big of a wheel and tire combo they can go, so check that out, might also help you decide, i know that it's not the exact same wheel but it's still 5zigen.

yah, i figured i could definitely run a wider wheel without having to do anything crazy, but i was worried that it might not look flush at all and look like its way too sunk into the fender.

+38 17*8 on the front +38 17*9 on the rear with plenty room 5zigen black racing went with 45 profile tyres up front however.

how flush are the rims to the fenders? I know this is a subjective thing because everybody considers flush differently but do the rims look sunk in? Do you have pics of your setup? Thanks!

would 17x9 +27 clear coilovers? sounds like it should, but its gonna bring the wheel 16mm closer to the strut housing. how about 30mm z brakes? simple five spoke design; much like the avs tcII

With a 17x8 rim you will have NO problems with the fender. The width of the tire has no relation to the offset. The offset is the factor for fender fitment. A +35 will set inside the fender about 15mm. Here's a pic of my car I've got 235/40R17 with 17x8 +25 rims on the front. NO mods to the fenders.
Also here's a tip, if you run 235/40 you'll get some rubbing on the inside wheel well in extreme turning situations. Go with a 235/35, less sidewall no rubbing issues. Mine rub sometimes when I hit a turn hard or when I'm in my parking space. Hope this helps.

i wouldnt use 235 on 8'. use 225. and go 45 aspect all around just get something with nice stiff sidewall. i would really recomend ZR1 fuzions. or es100s

why wouldnt you use a 235 on a 8 inch wheel? they fit fine and the sidewall is still stiff if your running a 45 or below on most high performance tires. But i do recomend you run a 45 just for a tad more rim protection if you live anywhere with bad roads.

17x8 +30 looks sorta flush in the front, but not even close to flush in the rear, so you know. +35 would be even worse, you can go lower offset and not have to modify fenders.
tein+agx doesnt even lower the car but like 1'', the wheel wouldnt be close to the fender anyway.
