View Full Version : tranny prob and werid dash light!?!?!?

Hey gang

easiest thing first. i have a 180sx dash, on the bottm left there are a fuel light then this weird symbol looks like a pipe with wavy lines coming off it. occasionally it will flicker or be on.All i can figure is cat? but i have a test pipe? :confused:
the biggest problem is i have a continual fifth gear grind, i put in pennzoil syncromesh but still grinds. I am worried about my tranny :bite: . What options do i have, whee can i get a sr20det tranny or get one rebuilt, i live about 70 miles from atlanta. Any help would be greatly appricated!

sr trannys are all over the place...ebay ect..just get another used one, or i think the ka trans is the same..just have to change the wats it macalled do search im at work and im lazzy and tired but ka tranny is the same...and for the light i have no idea wat your talking about..wild guess jdm hicas?

EGT indicator, or the cat overheat light as the kids call it. In your car it's the washer fluid level IIRC, since you've swapped clusters the location of warning lights is different.

pipe , with steam? your crazy, its a tamale and its the jdm Check engine light , not sure if thats your washer fluid but it sounds right due to the locations. As far as the tranny goes maybe you have a bad gear or selector , the trick is not to use 5th gear you really dont need it , your fine with 4th lol you can top out in 4th gear. The KA tranny will not work tho , its geared differntly and SR and KA are 2 different blocks , now if the 240 came with an SR24DE then maybe
