i finally got my hands on some 89 sohc pistons (well i still gotta pick em up but whatever) and i was told that switching my 1991 intake cam with a 1992 exhaust cam will get me some hp gains as well. is that the right year?

also, in order to get the pistons i had to buy the whole motor, does anyone need any sohc crap? the motor's got 90k on it.

also, im gonna need to upgrade the injectors, any suggestions on what size and where to get em would be apreciated. and will i hafta upgrade my ignition system as well? i know im gonna need a megasquirt management setup and a walboro fuel pump, but thatll come later when it all ready to go in. :axe:

any other suggestions are welcome as well!!!

Someone was asking this very question in a thread no more than 1 week ago, in fact, here is that thread:

You will need a high flow fuel pump, 370cc SR Injectors will work just fine.

Stock ignition system (factory Nissan equipment), with performance wires and NGK plugs will be good for your goal.

Reaching 200whp means you need to open up the breathing of the engine BIG TIME... Which means, headwork. You'll need some aftermarket cams (JWT is developing some pretty aggressive ones)

It will give you added power over stock, sure.. But 92 cams are not high performance cams by any means.. You would be better off going with higher duration cams that will allow you a little more tuning capability.

Yeah I am running the PDM cams on my N/A KA, very happy with them. I have actually been looking recently for something even hotter. :wiggle:

Stock cams will not get you anywhere near 200whp. I fear a long road of heartache ahead for you

pdm racing has changed their dyno number over the last 2 or 3 years, it used to be closer to 170, and i think if u dyno tuned or got a good tune you get get more out of it, when ever u put that much stuff on the motor you need a tune. and crower just came out with stage 3 3/4 and stage 4 n/a cams. that big v8 that gained 220hp, probally gained alot of that back from a rebuild then the cams and compression, a good bebuild and balance/blue print on a v8 usally gains alot of power, old ones are pretty sick sloppy. if i remember right ace runs over 7500 rpm in his ka and i have heard them goin to 8, i think devious ka is somewhere in there?, id just have a built motor if i was goin for 8, maybe a new harmonic balancer. my next n/a race car is getting the corwer stuff and a 89-90 pistons, but that is so i can race one car in n/a and 1 car in the open/turbo class, the track i got to is just like a timeattack thing you just go for the fastest runs and bragging rights to your level of motor. more of a fun thing than serious. oh yah i used to have pdm cams, not bad but still kinda weak, you notice about what you would going from s14 to s13 cams, cause thats what i did on my current motor and sold my pdm's. but the pdms shift your power band more i think, they move it from lower to higher.
just a few comments i had

when i emailed crower they said the cams should be 438$ that was the price crower would sell them straight to me for, i have seen them for cheaper though

i was gonna attach the crower spec sheet but i dont have enough attachment room so just pm me a email or something and i ll email it to someone else who can post it, i got the full discription and specs,

didnt you post this thread a while ago and get all kinds of criticism because you could only spen 800? anyway you can get a k&n filter to start get an exhaust , maybe a test pipe or gutted cat, SOHC pistons are a good idea , headers if you want MSD ignition ( less expensive than hks) now as far as the cams go the s13 dohc intake cam is a 242 and the dohc exhaust cam is a 248 and the common trick is to run 2 exhaust cams , i dont know why but there are some numbers the s14 runs 240 on the intake and 242 on the exhaust or if you want just get a stock turbo , stock intercooler(audi/starion) and cut the flange off your stock headers and custom an elbow anddownpipe , tap some oil feed and returns , a little piping and at 4-5 psi you meet your 200hp goal and depending on how you did it , it might be less than a grand www.homemadeturbo.com , dont think its just for honda motors , just pick up the home made idea
