Is it possible to remove the lock ring without using the socket wrench tool that's suggested in the FSM? I'm changing the fuel pump sock on my Walbro from S13 to S14, and this is the first time I've dealt with a fuel pump (I didn't install it originally).
yea you can. I used a flat head screw driver and a hammer.
Might be better to use like a piece of 2x4.

i just recently installed my walbro fuel pump and i dont think i had to remove a lock ring - what i did was
un capped the access cover
removed the fuel pump assembly
changed out the fuel pumps
changed installed the fuel pump and rewired it
then just put it back in - was i supposed to run into some kind of lock ring? because i know for a fact that i didnt have to remove it
