View Full Version : How big is the pilot bearig/bushing?
I am doing a 5 speed swap, and comparing the bushing i just bought to the automatic one that i removed. The outside diameter of the old one is ALOT bigger than the M/T one, is this correct? Wont it fit funny? Or does it sit further back in the crank? The manual tranny pilot bushing almost fits inside the automatic.

I used a crank from a automatic when I rebuilt my engine and yes the manual is a lot smaller and fits futher back in the crank. But you have to take out the automatic one first and let me tell you that was one tuff mother. Your supposed to be able to use a pilot bearing remover to get it out but that didnt' work on mine, kept slipping out. So I had to cut it out with a metal saw blade. I hope yours goes a lot smoother than mine did.
