I just got the 26mm Z brakes for my S13. I have ABS in the car. I am sticking with the stock rear brakes. I did some searching but I couldn't figure out which master cylinder would be appropriate. Should I just get the Z32 one? Or would a J30 master cylinder be more adequate because of the stock rears? I am a little confused on this setup... Somewhere in my searching, I came across something about ABS equipped cars don't have to deal with removing a plug or something on the M/C. Is that correct?

ABS cars already have a bigger master cylinder (15/16" as compared to 7/8"...that 1/16" of bore size makes a huge difference!)...so install them and then see if the bias is weird, or you feel the pedal is too mushy.

Oh wow. I didn't know that. I'll give it a shot with the stock MC first and see how it goes.

You think the MC from an '86 200SX is the same as a '91 240 ABS MC? I didn't even think they had ABS back in '86....

...right. That's where I saw the notation about ABS and the stock master cylinder and whatnot. Thanks for pointing out the site again.

as it says on import nut, for S14 you need to bend the lines.

just my .o2. I did the 26mm swap up front, with stock rears (slotted rotors/pads) and used my stock 7/8 m/c and it works fine. The pedal feel isn't mushy as everyone told me. I wish i would've known this before hand, because i bought a new 300zx m/c and ended up selling it because it wouldnt be worth the time to install, the litle stock one works just fine, and I autoX and occasionally road race and haven't experienced any loss in feel at all. I jumped to DOT4 fluid, and its actualy stiffer than with the stock brakes and the old fluid (dunno what grade the old stuff was)

importnut is using a 300zx brake MC. if i use an automatic s14 MC, i do not have to bend the lines as it is 15/16"
i dont want to bend my lines, it looks messy

Yeah, I am just going to stick with the stock 15/16 master cylinder I have in there and call it a day. I really dont feel like swapping it out.

It will work fine on a non-abs s13. I'm running one on mine. But since the original question was about an abs car, I dunno.
