Links were broken in the old thread, and these pics are the only ones that really matter anyways. Well, and on car pics, I'll have those soon too. Just need to finish polishing the other one.

Pics taken at dusk, so not as bling as they really are. And resizing them lost a lot of the finish too. They look rediculous in person. I love these wheels again. hahah :eek3d:

you can buy aircraft stripper at lots of places, like autozone or something.
looks nice, how did you polish them?

depends on what the coating is. anno = lye. powdercoat/spray= jasco/aircraft stripper.

I don't think I'm going to do it, but just to satisfy my curiousity would this work just as well for the silver finish or is the 5zigen "silver" an actual coating as opposed to a brushed finish in the metal?

Don't know about others, but I do know the silver FN's are painted too.

Dont quote me on this, but i believe the typhoon has an anodized face. You would need to use lye to remove it. Dont forget to wear gloves and to neutralize the wheel with water after. Then take a rouge bar to it.

Great. I was actually wondering about both Typhoons and FNs so you guys covered it. Thanks a lot!
I can't wait to see the on car pics.

Those are some pretty sweet results....I use oven cleaner to do my valve cover and it just went kind of slow, it took a lot of spraying and in the end a lot of sanding......I will use this stuff next time.... :x:

What did you use to polish?
I think with tripoli and white rouge they can be even more blingy yo

then throw on a clear or else your work will be a waste. Maybe even a clear with a VERY faint blue/grey/ something to bring it out.

I hear Zoop's seal works killer on polished rims, it does not yellow like most clears.

hahaha no, I'm done for now. Definately not putting any more time into messing with them. Especially now that I got a job at Discount tire. No more time. And now I don't have to pay someone to get these 205/40's on them. I've still got to strip and polish the other 2.

DAMN, those wheels look good.
I wonder what my old steelies would look like with this done to it

rusty. These are aluminum, so they won't rust, and they're shiny. Don't do it to steelies, it would look like poo.

No, aluminum doesnt rust, but it oxidizes. Coat them.

well, i mean, i'd clearcoat them afterwards. plus, they are 10 bucks at the junkyard

the polish says it "protects" the wheels. How true is this? will it keep them from oxidizing? I really don't want to clearcoat them cause it'll start to chip off and look like poo in no time.
advice guys?

If you got time on your hands just use the polish..and use it again...and again...and again. It will not protect like a clear or an anodizing. It will protect like car wax, so you will have to do it often. Seriously look into zoops seal. It is a protectant, but does not yellow like clears do.
You can get it at Eastwood, the guy's that make the fender roller. There is alink on this site somewhere.

+1 for zoops. Recommended often by anyone who polishes aluminum car parts.

damn, $100 for zoops, I think I'll pass. I really don't care that much about these wheels.
