when im drivin my car, i cant seem to downshift to 1st accept under 10mph even w/ the clutch down, is this normal?

i could downshift to 1st going over 10mph. just give alittle rev on the engine while downshifting nd itl go in

i tried revin it, itll go in but itll grind, is there a fuse or something i can take out? i have a ka24E tranny too does that have different gearing?

thats not what i ment.....ive seen cars that have a "safety" feature that wont let them downshift unless its under a certain mph....

What car is that?

It's most likely the 1-2 syncro is worn. You could try changing your tranny fluid more often. But the best fix would be replace the syncro.

ahhh thats cool, i gotta spare 5sp im gonna rebuild in my manual transaxle class in 3 weeks :)

dude, I think I blew my engine up! there's metal bits all over and I've lost all my oil!

Nah dude.. check your fuses.

last week i swapped out both my 10 amp tranny fuses and put in a some 20 ampers, and i got 15 hp!!

i gotta retune my fuel maps now though.. oh well :rolleyes:

When you take apart your tranny in class. Use petroleum jelly to hold together little parts like the inserts for the syncros. It makes life a whole lot easier. It would be easier to leave the syncro assembly together though. And make sure you check for snap rings...

rather than try and put your car in first at like 10mph, why not just learn not to put it in first until your car is stopped.

....and changing fuses?..... :duh:
