sr or ka?

I need an engine in my 240 and i was in the junk yard and found a full sr20de with 50,xxx miles in it. should i pull this engine and put it in the 89 240. Or should i just get a ka24de that has 192k on the motor?

yes i used the search button and i can not find jack for performance parts for the sr.

whatever is the best bang for the buck. in this case you're prolly gonna want the SR. 50K is good for a used nissan motor.

and apparently you aren't looking in the right place for sr performance parts, pretty much anywhere that does 240 stuff has sr parts.

SR's are for drifting only, so if you do more than just drift, you better get the KA.........

I'd tend to agree with you, but look at it.
It's sitting the correct way, and quite clearly says "SR20DE" on it.

This will NOT be the typical SR vs. KA thread, so I hope it doesn't get deleted... were talking about mid mileage SR20DE vs high mileage KA24DE.

KissMyBumper: If money is an issue, I'd just try to find a lower mileage KA, they're dirt cheap these days now that SRs are the trendy thing to do.

Maybe I'm losing it, but what on earth is a RWD SR20DE doing in an S-chassis car in Colorado?!?1 My only guess is that someone swapped one and then crashed.. But who would swap in an N/A SR20?.. I'm really intrigued by this rare junkyard find. I say, consider yourself lucky and grab that engine. I was in the pick-a-part today and all I saw were a bunch of KA24E S13's..

the SR20DE does have more power thent he KA24DE so go get it. the motor is also good for going turbo. the the same damn engine and it looks like the person already did a clean swap. maybe it was an origional. but for 50K miles. GO GET IT!!

well i am getting everything plus the tranny for under 300. I know the guy who owned it. he said it was a bad brake problem, and it is SLOW!!! but I really need a engine! so I started to pull the motor and i'll pick it up tommarow :rolleyes:
also since I was looking for ka parts this whole time since my car has been down, I do NOT know what engine will match up with this rare sr. :faint: I know i want a different clutch but what car will fit?? the same with headers. also I decided to keep it NA b/c of the weak rods with that engine. even tho my dream was to have a cheap torque engine that was quick. also the distriboer is smashed on top so what engine can i get that from?
